    Morning all,

Got a call this morning from my son about his Tiger 800.
He lent it to a work colleague over the weekend to get him out of a fix. He went to move it this morning and there's no gear selection at the lever.
Apparently the linkage is as slack as a dick in a bucket.
No unusual engine noises, clutch seems fine, just can't select any gear.

The bike is out of warranty, as most problem are, anyone experienced the same problems please.
    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Brian.

    Thanks Crispey,

I've not see the old girl yet as it's over at my son's place.
He's had a quick look at the obvious bits you mention, but all seems as it should, the linkage is all tight and in place.
The gear selection shaft is moving as it enters the casing but has no resistance, guess we'll have to get her home to mine and break out the spanners o_O
He's sent me a video but it's to large to upload:mad:

    Cheers

    Brian.

Lol surely rule 1 is never lend your perfect running bike to anyone, coz they aint gonna love it like you do.
Hope its a simple fix for you

He's like his old Dad, to kind hearted by half, but it takes all sorts I guess.
For those who showed a little more interest earlier today ;) I came across this video,
It looks a straightforward enough job, so looks like I'll be busy over the next few days.

I think a word with the person who borrowed the bike is called for!

If I borrow a Tool and break it I replace it. This is the unwritten agreement isnt it? I think its up to the guy who borrowed it to step up, or the Karma will get him.

My mates and I have a saying and it's very easy to understand "if you bend it you bend it". Don't have the full story so if I'm wrong apologies but if the person (can't say guy as it's not PC) who was very fortunate to have been loaned a bike brought it back in this condition they are obviously a but if a snide! Hope you get it sorted and the culprit coughs up,

How's the spannering going Brian ?

I watched both parts of the video. That chap did a decent repair to that broken pin ( if it holds up ).
What's the alternative ? Presumably it's a whole new assembly incorporating the pin. Which I would imagine is bl**dy expensive.

You can ride my bike if I can ride your wife/daughter, depending on which is fitter.

There can be a problem with the gear lever return spring in some bikes and I think it was a recall issue but unsure , I'd ring a dealer up and have the engine number to hand
