Afternoon ladies and gents. I'm a born again biker from Dorset returning to the fold after too long an absence. Yes I know but it couldn't be helped. It was women and travel mostly that did it. These things happen.. I'm New to the forum and new to Triumphs. (A Ducati and assorted Jap stuff in a previous life.) I pick up my (nearly) new Speed Triple tomorrow. Cannot wait to get my hands on the bike and for the flood water to go down so I can ride it. No doubt I'll be picking your collective brains about something before long. Glad to be among you all and roll on some clear skies. Regards, Gimlet.
Welcome, I'm in exactly the same position, except I pick it up on Friday morning instead of tomorrow.
Hi Gimlet and welcome to the Triumph forum and to the Joys of owning a Speed Triple. I've had a great 18 months with mine with no mechanical issues other than front discs changed under warranty. Hope the weather improves soon so you can get out on it. Tradition is you post a few pictures of your bike when you get it.
Hi Gimlet, I'm a recent newbie to the speed triple having owned a 1200 bandit for a few years. You'll love it! Ride safe bud
Welcome Gimlet happy biking to you I got mine last August Great to see someone has just bought an STIII a few on here have sold up in last few weeks! I was getting worried there was something wrong with them (bikes not membersthat is)
Thanks everyone for the welcome. Much appreciated. Bike arrives tomorrow. Piccy to follow. I know what you mean. When I was trying to decide which bike to buy it was like Speeds had disappeared off the planet. No mentions in the press, no recent reviews. Stacks on the Street triple and all the new nakeds from other marques but the poor old Triple had done a vanishing act. I thought they'd stopped making them. Then I worked out that journos had used up all the superlatives and were taking it for granted that all round, the ST111 was the big naked to beat. And that was good enough for me.
Welcome to the forum Gimlet and congrats on getting the best Naked bike money can buy, most probally the best modern bike I have had the pleasure of owning or riding :upyeah:
It does seem a little like that - if I hadn't over specified the new kitchen I would probably have held on to her. However, I've still got the old one (bought new in 07 and with 45,000 playtime miles under her belt - none this last 12 months due to riding the red one) so rest assured that in buying an SIII you've bought a seriously good bike! B
im getting my new speed triple on saturday and was wondering if any one had put a K&N or pipercross air filter into their bike and which one would you recommend?
Both are very good and also very similar in performance and quality, just depends which "free sticker" you'll prefer? PS we do Pipercross
