feckin’ kids stick their heads into their game station or Youtube pad thing... talk about never feeling further apart from the family living under your roof!

So an enforced movie night... no other tech but the film we’re showing on’t telly... cheesy nachos and dogs... bring on the Christmas family time!

It does get a lot better though when they leave home. Apparently Lady Poppy misses the Monkey but, well, it is a lot more peaceful here at Trev Towers now, and she's only 90 minutes away in Brighton so... I may change the locks before her final year finishes in May as she might have the crazy idea of moving back in again *.

*Yes of course I miss her really, but it's a nice excuse for a ride out and I can bore her stupid with tales of when I was an undergrad myself in Brighton while I'm there

My daughter is 18.... she spends a lot of time with her nose buried in her laptop, BUT....

She comes shooting with me, I've taught her Fencing, Parachuting, and Scuba diving. So when her friends at university are playing video games she looks at them and says "but Dad teaches me that for real....." (So apparently I'm officially a "Cool Dad")

My son (age 9) got upset when another child in his class called him a wimp.... this would be the same kid whose dad has a Harley and who is too scared to ride pillion. I reminded Robert that he isn't too scared to ride pillion when I collect him from school on the bike and we take the longer routes home, because he enjoys it almost as much as I do. He's much happier for it.

Was teaching Anna the basics of archery over Christmas and got "This is harder than it is on the computer" - my reply was that it's more rewarding when you get it right. I try to educate them that actually DOING THINGS is far better than pretending to do it on a screen.

Depends on the “fencing”, I can dry stone wall, lay hedges to an adequate level and drop posts and put down wire mesh corals and boundary fences... but I’m no good with a sword!... not very exciting for the kids... but they will follow me if I have to take them to the fields!

I am so glad I was borne in 1949 (old fart) grew up in the days were we actually communicated verbally and helped each other. My dad didn't drive, there was no such thing as the school run and all I wanted was a motorbike of some form not the latest phone or tablet (thought they were pills) apparently it's progress! I wonder who is going to construct the buildings,in the future, for the IT specialists who don't want to get their hands dirty? There is a serious shortage of building trade apprentices (hard work involved) It's scary to think what future these young people are going to have. I wish the best of to them all.
    Feliz Anio nuevo,
    Pete
