Simply would not pay £900.00 for a jacket. A mate bought jacket and trousers on sale at the NEC bike show, he likes the kit but it still let water in during a two day ride across Europe in torrential rail.

Yes, I can understand that. It would be nice to have as a gift...but the cost is astronomical....

After 3 days of torrential rain the only one out of 6 of us who was dry was the guy wearing the Rukka gear. Most of us were in "normal" GoreTex.
Though he was the only one who paid £1000 for his gear.
If you can afford it and you do enough miles then go for it.

Rukka products are of high quality but the prices are just ludicrous. Both Rukka and the "mother company" Luhta (L-fashion group) are few of the most expensive sports garment manufacturers in the whole country (Finnish brand) and basically only the "better" folks tend to buy them, and usually do from head to toe to show off in the jogging tracks. I have no personal experience from Rukka riding gear, so I can't say abiut them, but another Finnish brand that is considerably more affordable and worth checking is SWEEP. I have Sweep Omega pants and a jacket which name I don't remember cause it was and ending model and I got it from sale. Great gear, the jacket has detachable thermal lining as well as rain proof layer, ve t zippers in both shoulders front and back, the sleeves split all the way to your shoulders revealing a vent mesh so you can use the same jacket throughout the whole season rain shine or frost. The only downfall is the triple layer makes it a bit stiff and slightly on the heavy side while on the shop line etc. But when you assume riding position you forget you're wearing it. Do stay away from HANX, got one jacket, didn't go at all with the pants, hard, too short back kept rising onto the pant waist refusing to go down, sleeves leak cold, overall uncomfortable, gave it to my neighbour after two months and bought the sweep jacket. Sweep products also have a zipper that you can connect your jacket and pants together with.

Might have gotten a wee bit off tracked there ;) but to answer the original question: it is a very hifh quality brand but IMO there's not much to justify the prices, to me it kinda falls into the same category as those brands sold in those posh home decorating shops like Gant, sure if you can pay 150EUR for a wool sweater then fine but don't come telling me you bought it because it's comfy rather that it says "yea I'm stinkin' rich". Don't know how wealthy the users of this forum in general are, at least most of you seem to ride fairly new bikes albeit they are somewhat cheaper there than here, but to me a thousand for a jacket and pants is a touch too much. My gear in total costs around that but that is with gloves, boots and a Nolan N90 lid. Hell, my Honda probly isn't worth that anymore!

Just sayin' if you have the money sure they are comfy and hold the weather but you can get equivalent quality for much cheaper too.

At least ski, although that branch is mostly Luhta section, not sure about snowmobile although most bike jackets sold here come with detachable thermal lining that mostly is enough for snowmobiling too.

Had to look from a few stores, I thought the prices would be at least slightly cheaper here but after conversion they fall withing 5 EUR from what you pay. But yea 2500 for pants and jacket is just ridiculous, I don`t care if they`re made from the sacks of endangered animals with gold trimming!

Just noticed this thread on here and feel that I should say something here as I've lived in a Rukka jacket and trousers for the last couple of years. Realise that they are a little on the expensive side, but I've grown weary of poor quality kit and believe me I've had my share.

When I brought my Rukka Athos jacket there was also a sale on at Hein Gericke, but opted for the Rukka kit as it wasn't all that much different in price. I wanted to get the best kit I could afford as I'd not owned a car for 5 years and felt I deserved it.

Firstly I can only say good things about it. The Athos was and I think is the cheapest in the waterproof range. I've worn it all year from below freezing to above 30C. Have never been cold or wet in it, though've been a little hot in it as there isn't any real ventilation. A happy sacrifice for the winter miles! Covered over 20,000 miles with both the jacket and trousers still looking fresh, though a wash might be in order! Even the base Rukka gear seems to be of a higher quality than other well known brands.

One thing to note with this gear is DON'T BUY IN THE UK!!! This country is a total rip off for most things and the mark up makes many items prohibitively expensive. Currently the Rukka Athos is available in the UK for £399 while in Germany you can get it for £249! As much as I'd like to support UK businesses I can't afford that sort of price difference.

I was seeing a German girl at the time so the price difference could cover 2 return flights from Southampton to Frankfurt! Have also brought mail order from large German stores without any problem.

    Yeah... Rip off UK...

I've just done an article on the Goldwing (see Other Bikes) and was shocked to discover its actually LESS is dollars in the US than it is here in £'s!!! (around $23,000 US and £24,000 UK).

    Come the revolution...

Not wrong hedgehog! Also cheaper to buy a Triumph in the US and ship it over than it is to buy one a mile from where it's actually made!

Hi, just joined this forum after my first Triumph purchase - Speed Triple R.

Thought i'd make a comment on here as a owner for the Rukka Cosmic Jacket, I love it! Yes sure its expensive, but haggle and get it cheaper or buy from Germany. Its a quality bit of kit backed up by great warranties. And if you are to compare this kit to others make sure you are comparing it to Gore Tex ProShell which is the Laminate stuff and not the standard Gore Tex. When you do that you will find that the Rukka is not a massive amount more.

I like it so much that i am waiting on the release of the New Armaxion Pant to go with the Jacket. Yes i know the matching pant is the Cosmic but that has the Outlast thermal Liner which is difficult to slip over work trousers.
