I am thinking of adding a camera to my Speed.

Now, I already own both a Drift Ghost S and GoPro but not planning on using either as I am thinking more of the semi-permanent loop recording type of setup; am thinking along the lines of possibly the Innovv C5? While out riding with a friend of mine recently I noticed he had a Roadhawk setup on his GS (we won’t hold that against him) just beneath the windscreen above the headlight and it seemed to work well in the sense that unless you knew it was there, you didn’t really notice it which is essentially the setup I would like to achieve.

Looking at the front of the Speed I am thinking that the area beneath the air intake could be perfect?

Has anyone else experimented with cameras on their Speed? thoughts and outcomes? pictures?

No, but I was thinking of something like this for the Tiger and have looked at the Innov C5 so would be interested to hear if anyone has done this - I think littleade has one on his B*W

Seeing you've already got a Drift....this is my setup (although I don't actually use it very often, see comments here)

Looks good. My only concern would be theft as I am planning on effectively leaving it on the bike all of the time without having to remember to take it off when parked; I do like the Drift remote mount though, is that an official accessory or a 'homemade' mount? do you have details?

Irrespective of this project, I'd most likely still use the Drift / GoPro on occasions on rides (the Drift is currently mounted to my lid typically).

Yes, I only used it to record some vids when touring. The way the Drift interacts with the usb turned out to be too much of a faff for general use so I don't use it that often. As you say, wouldn't want to leave it on bike unattended so not suitable for your intentions.

I originally had the camera when I had the Multistrada and found the mount for the control here. It's designed to fit in the left hand guard of that bike. When I changed to the Speed I modified it by removing the 3 lugs and then gluing it to a metal bracket that now fits to the redundant mirror mount. 95% of the time it's all removed so the bike looks nice and tidy.

I have two Drifts, one is on the right side of my crash helmet, so what I see the camera sees. Very useful for observing vehicles alongside the bike.
The second is rear facing fitted to the right of the brake light above the indicator.

Both come off the bike for charging, then gives me the 3h of recording needed for my daily commute

Avoid the Drift 4k as this has a menu system that makes if very impractical for bikers, in that you need to set the menu to Car DVD to record in a look, yet need to cancel this to be able to charge it from a USB.
The Drift HD-s and Stealth are the way to go.

These have saved me thousands as they were evidence of a car cutting across me without looking in traffic resulting in my bike being written off and her car pretty much scrapped. Without the camera it would have been 50/50 and greatly inflated insurance premium
