2013 Daytona Dyno Chart

Discussion in 'Daytona' started by UKRS, Dec 3, 2013.

  1. Thought we would share our latest dyno results.

Bike is a 2013 Daytona with 2000 miles on, so run in and free.
Customer fitted a MWR HE filter and a slip on GP2 can. To turn off the warning light had the Triumph full Arrow exhaust map fitted. Well the dealer fitted the full race map first which went horribly wrong with all the road functions like speedo being disabled, so he had to go back and have the correct map installed. If you do this make sure you get the full system map.

The red trace is the second power run (base map) we did showing the map running way too lean at the bottom end, which is dangerous as this could be cruising speed on the freeway and a massive rich dip which on the throttle shows up as a flat spot before hitting the power and running consistently rich.
We fitted a Bazzaz ZFi unit and started playing. We mapped it the old fashioned way which takes longer but gives us a better feel for whats going off and whats working and whats not.

Anyway the bit you are interested in:

Just fitted an Austin Racing GP2R on my 2013 675R, I have the arrows slip on map on my bike with this the eml is on, didn't really want to spend extra money on having a bazzaz fitted and a custom map ££££££££££££££££.

Austin racing dynoed a 675 with the gp2r and with the map I have and says it runs fine but cant find a way to turn eml off without installing the full arrows map and like you say it then runs very rich, I am stuck on what to do? do I just run it with the eml on?

  4. The only way at the moment to turn off the light is with the full arrow tune. Wayne at TuneBoy (NOT TuneECU) is working on a solution and I'm hoping for an update on that this week.

But that's going to be a bit of a trip for you... I use Tune ECU myself.. but I know the 2014 triumphs lock the ecu so you can't map the ecu.
    Tune ECU is free...

Not very up on this sort of thing, where do I get a tune ecu for free? all I want is the eml off and once the weather changes theres a few places near me that do cheap dyno runs to see if its running lean or rich.

    Google is your friend......

    TuneECU_Start

You will need a cable , which can be bought cheaply from eBay. ?
Just check 1st to make sure your bike is ccompatible. ?

No one can actually map the ECU on the new 2013> bikes. Triumph have locked the ECU in anticipation of the anti tamper laws they keep talking about. Bikes prior to 2013 can be mapped using Tuneboy, TuneECU (not recommended) and another program.
we have worked with Smiths Triumph, Haribo Triumph and TAG Triumph in the past and not one of these teams have had success with the 2013> models. I was at Smiths Triumph last week and told them TB had nearly cracked the 2013 ECU and they can't wait. Even though they run Motec on their race bikes they are still keen to have a cracked ECU. Triumph used to supply flashed race kit ECU's (not the stock Kit ECU) to select few but they have even stopped doing that now. Good luck with the prices down at T3 !

AND WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT CONNECT TUNEECU TO A 2013> BIKE OR IT WILL LOCK THE ECU.

Cheers for that, keep me informed, what about fitting a bazzaz? have heard this turns the eml off??

  17. Hi Gary, if you read the first post we had the full Arrow race map fitted by a Triumph dealer to turn off the light and then used the Bazzaz to correct the way too rich fuel mixture.
The Bazzaz will not turn off the light on its own.

They are aware of this as they work directly with the factory. They were not going to do my bike as it was a 2013 but i had already had a look using Tune ECU so knew it was not locked.
As i said give them a call and they will be able to let you know if they can do anything. Some 2013 bikes used older ECU's hence why they can work on them.
All 2014 bikes sold will be locked so its not worth risking it..

And UKRS... take it you use Tune Boy... As far as i'm aware and from the forums i have viewed not much difference between the 2 programs.. apart from cost...And as your a business i can understand why you would want to point someone to your product and not another..that's free.... Same as Bazzaz & Dynojet... you go to a DJ dealer and they wont recommend another....
If TB sort the ECU issue then that's great news for the rest..
I know KTM have same ECU and you can use TuneECU on that.. loads of maps etc etc... When i had a KTM i went to a rolling road that was not familiar or did not want to use it as they were a Dynojet supplier and stockist..
Why do a custom map for me @ £200 when they can charge me £600-£700 for a fitted PC111 and custom map..

I paid and it worked but if i was aware of T3 at the time i could of had the same for £200...

Gary just look around and see whats out there.. its your money and your choice.

Oh & what ever you do don't connect TUNE BOY to a 2013 bike as they haven't got it fixed just yet..

Look for your local DJ or BAZZAZ dealer and spend a bucket load of cash with them...
Oh and the triumph maps are very rich... As are the KTM as it happens...

Hope you get it sorted and find a local dealer who can help.

  19. Lets just put one thing straight. We have tuned probably over 100 bikes with TuneECU and sold probably 2 TuneBoy kits since TuneECU was release. We have had 2 race bikes fall over when tuned with TuneECU but never had a problem with a road bike.
When a customer comes to us we are happy to use TuneECU but always stress its at their risk. We stumbled across the bug in TuneECU and after talking to Slick Bass he said he had exactly the same problem and was surprised it had taken us so long to find it. We think its something to do with the race bikes being bounced off the rev limiter but we don't do that with customers road bikes. The ECUs just would not accept the changes and when they did they altered the fuel in a area we hadn't even touched. If you just generate one map at 100% throttle then all is well but when you try mapping different throttle positions it corrupts other throttle position ranges. Some tuners only map at 100%. We may take a long time to map but we do it right at 10% throttle, 20% and so on, up to WOT.
Wayne at TuneBoy is a good friend, Jim at Bazzaz is a great friend and we sell Power Commanders but we don't say any are better than the other we just explain the differences and let the customer decide and only charge £100 for a custom map.
Anybody seeking a custom map should go where they are happy and if the tuner does not clamp off the SAi pipe or do maps for different throttle positions, don't pay the man.
