    Hi, great video !
I just joined your forum - been looking at getting a tiger 800 / 800XC and thats just made my mind up ! I have had mostly sports bikes for the last 20 years but recently drawn to adventure trail bikes, got a test ride booked next week :) I just need a bigger garage / somewhere to hide it as I have 2 bikes already and if the wife finds another I may be needing a solicitor !
Any tips for what to look for on a used one would be appreciated or any info about plus & minus points?
I live in devon so its going to see mostly moor cruising and winter landing, not major off road, but general all round stuff while my super bikes are wrapped up :)
    All the best
    SK

Hi and welcome to the forum. The Tiger 800 is in my opinion still more of a road bike than off road machine, the riders in this video are expert riders which makes the bikes look fantastic off road. I guess it depends where you decide to ride but for the average guy all these adventure duel purpose bikes are too much of a handful off road.

I have test ridden the 800xc and liked it very much for its comfortable riding position, gutsy smooth engine and its baggage carrying abilities but I would not pay over 5K for a winter bike that is too heavy for any serious green lane muddy action or something that is going to suffer the abuse of road salt.

My personal choice of winter bike was a Yamaha WR 250; road legal, cheap ish ,very light. Dropped it in a river yesterday, nothing damaged other than my pride.

Good luck in whatever you decide

Thanks but believe me I wouldn't be doing any serious hardcore green laneing on it! and a WR wouldn't be my choice... ridden the 250 & 450 - great bikes but too much maintenance & the ergonomics don't suit me, more of enjoying riding around this great county when it's not super bike weather, I have the use of a couple proper green lane bikes and a group of mates who do it but I am carrying too many injuries as it is - maybe 10 years ago !
Also I'd have the choice of taking the wife out for a ride & lunch which I couldn't see on a wr250 ! she thinks my RSV4 is bad !
    cheers :)
