Greetings guys/gals, Steve here (aka Fossil). New to this site but not to bikes. I'm a decent shadetree wrench but really struggle with wiring. My current project (well, one of about 10 going on right now) is a bitsa street tracker. '73 frame, conical hubs, '76 engine. I am now to the point that I need to do the wiring and am totally confused by the diagrams I have been finding on line and in the manuals I have. I have a Boyer electronic ignition, a single coil for twins, a tympanium regulator and want to keep the turn signals. I bought a new main wiring harness as well as a new headlight harness and have created a nightmare since the colors don't exactly match. They are from different sellers but I thought surely they would match up. Anyway, there are colors shown in the diagrams that are not in the harness and colors in the harness that are not shown in the diagrams! Then, to make matters even more confusing, when I search for diagrams for a OIF TR6/Bonnie, there are several. So I chose an earlier '71/'72 thinking it would be a simpler version, only to find that there is one "up to engine#XXXXX", and one "from engine #XXXXX". Can anyone please steer me in a direction that is simpler? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Steve

The key is the management system on this. I dont know much about wiring, this looks simply done and adaptable

There will be cheaper options, get a second hand one or do the same job with fuses and connectors:) Its just a circuit box neat and tidy. To be fair it is very neat and tidy,(nice bit of kit and if your doing up an old bike your spending loads anyway arnt you?

Not spending a fortune. It’s not going to be a full rebuild, just enough to make it work and safe :) and road legal of course lol

Really good video but I have already spent almost $100 on a new harness. I don't want to build one. I just need help on a few of the wires which have colors that don't match what the diagrams show. I have a copy of the original shop manual as well as the one from Glenn's (which have the exact same diagrams). I have a purple wire that comes out of the harness in three different places but there is only a purple/black wire in the diagrams and it only appears one place for a very short distance. Then there are two or three other wires that aren't what appears in the diagram. I am just now getting back on this, since I got pulled off this project onto something else, and will have to re-familiarize myself with exactly what is what. I find it hard to believe someone would replicate something like a harness, that uses different color wires for a reason, and would not follow the exact color codes.? Anyway, I'll stop my rant now. And, if anyone has any other help, it would be appreciated. regards, Steve
