Just finished the steering damper project thought id upload a few shots of it purchased from half ton it was for an older 790 Bonny got front bracket new spacer and correct length bolt from George @ TEC new spray job not bad considering it was rattle cans and a little fettling to make it all fit, not sure if it will make any real handling difference but it was ok to begin with still for looks alone it was worth doing.

Did it need a damper? Not really heard of anyone struggling with Bonnevilles shaking their heads?
If it's just to look nice, fair do's, we all like trinkets

I think they do need one, had mine shaking in fast bends quite a lot, its not a nice feeling :( Rudeboy fitted mine but due to surgery I have yet to get out on it so hoping it will make a difference. I guess I have to remember the Bonneville is not a sports bike so I m going to have to put up with certain failings:) Still, have to agree, if they don't work that well they still look good.:) Cant wait to test it though, wont be long Rudeboy, getting better by the day.

Yeah fitted a TEC one earlier in the year. Didn't think it made much difference at first, until I tackled the roads of Ireland last month!

Cheaper option fit tapered head stem bearings ! As its likely the std ball and race bearings which can't get all the play out, that is causing the "shimmying" & "shaking" .
I did my 09 America head stem bearings !! It's an eye opening difference !*!*!

    Cheers capt.
