So, long story short I took bike out of garage ready for a trip to France and it started fine( last started a week before) I then left it about 15mins while I got ready for the off and then 'CLICK' nothing, it was flat. Grr and lots of swearing while ferry check in time disappeared.
Anyway tried to jump the bike from the car and it wouldn't work. Ended up missing the ferry and removing battery for a half hour boost on a charger.
Can anyone say why the bike wouldn't jump from my car with jump leads? Is it some sort of overide/immobiliser feature not allowing external jump starting? Just need to know in case of any future last minute panics!
Turned out ok in the end and had a great three day 600 mile trip with no starting issues

    Ride safe

Can't see why that would happen a battery is a battery, on the vehicle or not, did you have the cables connecting properly?

Did you remove your bike battery from the loop and try to jump with just the car battery?

    Welcome to the forum Mick.
The ECU can be a real pain and has been the subject of several posts regarding 'the click'
Particularly in winter, it can be a real knife edge of starting or not.
One way to avoid it is having the battery on a smart charger (optimate etc.) when not in use.
Another improvement is to fit a switch so the headlamp and tail lamp can be switched off while starting.
Never failed to bump start, but you do need an incline, they are heavy bikes to push.
