What a pig the chain adjust turned out to be. Silencers are in the way, apparently angled spanners help here but the real problem for me is the lack of proper markers, the blobs behind the adjuster bolt are useless to me, not having a lift but having varifocals! I was forced to measure the adjustment to align the wheel. Seriously thinking it will be silencers off next time, in fact its nearly decided me to get some Tec slipons. To cap it all the diagram on Page 88 of my manual is completely mis-labelled!

Whenever you check/adjust the chain, you need to have the bike on it's sidestand and wheels on the ground. If you do the adjustment with the wheels off the ground, when you let the bike down the chain will be too tight.

Well I couldnt agree more Biglad but chain tension isnt my problem. What stoked me up was how awkward it is to carry out the adjustment and how Triumph have penny pinched by not welding on proper adjustment markers or having the manual proof read. This is my 4th Hinckley Triumph and easily the least user friendly.

My 2012 Bonnie has chrome adjusters which are clearly marked for accurate chain adjustment.
As far as I am aware they are just standard OEM parts.
Having to take the standard silencer off is a pain, but it is only the exhaust pipe clamp and rear foot rest bolt.
I do like to torque the important things like wheel spindle nuts etc. so I would always remove the silencer rather than relying on a standard spanner.

Yeah, the 865 Bonnie was much easier. Getting a socket/torque wrench to the wheel nut isn't a problem with the silencer in situ but the actual adjustment and alignment is very awkward due to the obstructive silencer and the near useless alignment marks.
