Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. Been a biker for 13 years. Have just stepped down from a gsxr750 and plan to buy a street triple. I have one in the crosshairs but have been doing some digging and based on the licence plate of the one I want websites are saying it's a Daytona 675 R not a street triple? Is this a known inconsistency or should I be worried about buying this bike? It looks like a street triple! It's £5,500, clean and tidy, low mileage.

Also any tips for a street triple noobie would be much appreciated!

    Thanks

It was finance check that I was mainly gonna do before buying, was just confused as to why the Reg brought up Daytona as model. And that was via an insurance quote and also another source that I cannot remember right now. Paranoid something silly has happened like it used to be a Daytona and someone has crashed it and changed a load of panels / parts

Hi Beansy, Get the VIN number off the frame. Go to your local Triumph dealership, tell them your concern and ask for a look up on plate and VIN.

    Welcome mate,

Good choice, I've stepped 'down' from a gsxr750 to a speed.

I've had that problem with my gsxr kept showing as a gsr, suggest a full hpi check if your serious about getting it.

    Good luck

... or pm me the Vin number starting with 8 and I'll look it up next time I'm on the system.

Thanks for the help lads. Have got the chassis numbers confirmed with paperwork (which states it as a street triple R). Will speak to a triumph dealer tomorrow also. Have never bought such a new vehicle so extra paranoid. Anything else important to look out for on a 64 plate triple R?
