Hello Guys and Dolls. The name is Andy obviously lol, 54 and work in the Legal System. Looking forward to my next bike to be a Triumph but unsure on which to choose. I have booked a test ride on the 10th May on the T100, Thruxton, Speed Triple 675 and the Tiger 800 XR, thought id cover all the options lol. Anyway, will look forward to picking the brains of many and taking the advice of the wise. Best wishes Andy
Hi Andy and welcome Don't be pending to long! Be spending! You can't take it with you so spend spend spend!!!!!
You better prepare yourself for 'open wallet surgery' Andy once you've ridden the Tiger 800..... I was given one last week by the dealer as a courtesy bike while my Street Twin was being serviced and decided there and then to buy one. Should be here in a couple of weeks. Dearest bloody service I've ever had but I can't wait for my new bike to arrive Hope you have many happy miles whichever bike you choose.
I have that week off and wifey is away that day so I can get out and play without the worry of her wanting to go shopping Na shes pretty good but why take the chance Thank you so very much for the warm welcome guys, it means a great deal and I will of course post my findings and post a few photos etc.
Hi Andy, welcome in. Back to back is the best way, one will stand out and steal your heart. Good luck with the test rides, take your time and have fun.
Welcome to the forum Andy Enjoy your test day. Your 'legal system' experience could prove to be very useful.
Hi and welcome. The only sure thing is that once you have ridden triumph bikes you will buy one (or possibly two) as you will love them all. Good luck on your choice Wessa
Hi Andy, your'e going to have a difficult choice, but whatever one you go for you will love it! what was your last bike?
Hi Dougie. My last bike was a much loved GSXR1000-K1 which I had for around 10 years, she never wanted for anything, even changed the oil and filter 4 times a year, and of course she had every extra I could fit to her. Broke my heart when I sold her but because of surgery on my cervical spine I was told any accident could put me in a chair. Two surgeries down and one to go but I cannot be without a bike. Never owned a Triumph, had the usual Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha and Honda's over the many years of riding and have owned some of the real collectors stuff of today (sadly I would be loaded if I kept them ) the likes of the FSIE, RD350LC etc, still, very fond memories of them and I guess best left where they belong . The bikes I noted above, I have sat on all four, I am in love with the Thruxton, they do look special, but the Tiger feels like an arm chair and on that alone I could have bought it where I sat, but experience of jumping in too soon as a younger man tells me to wait until after the test rides . Looks like wifey will be coming with me on my test ride day, she says she might bring the card with her, cant rely on her buying the bike Guys and Dolls, no doubt she might stretch to a pair of new gloves but that will be her input still whatever happens apparently its our money, never mine alone Going now to have a good old poke around your wonderful site and see what I can find out about the bikes in my shopping list, and the gear one is suppose to wear on them, I'm guessing racing leathers don't match a Bonneville rider (on the road that is ). Admin: Keep up the good work fellas, your site looks well presented and well looked after. Best wishes to all. Andy
a lot of it will come down to what sort of riding you do,if you do a lot of long runs or touring the tiger might be the best (although i've done both on my speed triple and find it really comfy),or if you plan to take a pillion again the tiger looks good for that, just looked at your original post and i think it's the street triple you mean instead of the speed triple? if it is i woudn't overlook the speed triple as it's a fantastic bike..i may be a bit biased though
Don't take the wife! Surely you can carry the card? And you've got to much hair it's supposed to fall out in your 30s
I cant wait to be fair, I'm not one to get overly excited about anything but somehow this is very different. I guess because I have not ridden a modern Triumph and they are to me very different to the inline 4s I am so used to. I have ridden the Harley Davidson 833 Sportster and owned a Ducati 748s both twins I guess I am going to get a similar experience, but deep down I'm hoping not as I hated the HD833 and disliked the Ducati but that was for the riding position not the actual bike. Apologies Dougie for the error/mix up on the Street and the Speed Triple A couple of hours in Fowlers of Bristol will leave anyone in a state of confusion, they have some good stuff there and after my youngest daughter had bought her CB125F (waiting delivery) my eldest wanted to buy a Honda MSX125 which looks like a 10 year olds bike, so I needed to get her looking in another direction, so left a little brain dead, still it could be another to try whilst Im there
Hello again... Well I have been poking around (and posting where I had some input) for a couple of days and I have to say what a wonderful and friendly site you have, I don't think I have seen any derogatory comments or bad words to or from any member to any member in the hundred or so threads I have looked at.. Well done guys and long may it continue.
A warm welcome Andy to the best forum on the interweb thingy, enjoy your new bike whatever you choose, I don`t think you are going to regret it. I love my T100
Andy take out a speed triple s then save yourself 3K and buy mine http://www.thetriumphforum.co.uk/threads/for-sale-speed-triple-s-with-over-£2000-in-extras.8745/
I seen this already on my hunt around the site and its quite a bike you have there, gorgeous. Don't hold your breath but it could be an option, I will have to add the speed triple to my shopping list, or was it the street triple
A warm welcome from Germany, Andy. Man I do not want to be in your shoes on that testride-day... Afterwards, you'll be sitting at home with little Triumph-bikes circling around your head and you will be wondering: "Now which one had the easy-shifter and which one the automatic turn indicator reset...!?" I think, you will love the Trumpet's twin engines! They run much smoother than the small Harleys and the Ducati. Right now, I own a Yamaha inline-four XJR and a Bonneville and both engines are smooth as silk! Good luck on your hunt and have tons of fun Daniel
No comparison berween a hoq (horrible old goat) and a triumph. Oil leaks, vibration, ear splitting noise maker. Underpowered, outrageously expensive. I had one, caught on fire, pushed it into a ravine, still there to this day. Hog is not a motorcycle, its a cult. You either belong or you dont. If you dont expect the one finger salute.
