Ordering my speed triple r today, trading in my 16 plate s1000r,bm is a great bike and does the lot, fast roads,in town, and did 2 weeks in Spain last year, its just got no character,it just screams everywhere ,wanted something a bit more classy, love the sound of the triple and it looks great,20bhp less,so what, don't do track days so do I actually use the 160bhp on the road? Don't know ,I've gone for the graphite,Low boy n quick shifter, evotech tailtidy, need to get it run in asap as back to Pyrenees and picos soon
Hi and welcome, great choice of bike, and biking roads. Happy riding, I'll look out for you en espaniola, I'm there in September.
Hi Danny, totally get where your'e coming from,i had a test ride of the S1000r and felt the same as you,the Speed triple is a fantastic bike. I'm sure you will love it
Hi Danny, welcome! I totally get what you mean with the S1000R, it's either ON or OFF ! Please post some pictures when you get the Triumph and many safe miles.
Thanks fellas, but just a quick question, with the low boy fitted do I lose the rear pegs? Cos I'll need them for touring? Thanks again
Not sure Danny, perhaps another member can comment. I asked for mine from the dealer as it was not fitted purely because I always try to get the standard parts when buying a new bike if the previous owner has fitted extras. If you don't come right I can check tonight. Im sure it will fit though.
Thanks Angus,I'll be asking for the original headers n pipes off the dealer.....they want all the original bits off mine
Hi Danny, I have had my grey R for a couple of weeks now and like you traded in an s1000r. I made the change for the same reasons, the BM was buzzy, loud and lacked class. You won't regret the change. I went for the high arrows purely because to me that's what a triple should have. The build quality of the triple is way better too! Just a point of note the traction control in road and sport comes in early so use track once you have run it in. The brakes are terrible for the first couple of rides and the tyres are slippery until they get some heat in them, be carful! Enjoy!
Thanks Matt,i take it brakes are ok now?,thanks for tip ref TC,I'll probably do what I did wit sk1 road mode for few weeks then dynamic, thanks again
Danny, Yes the brakes got better with use, as they do... Good idea with the TC mode. The TC on the triple is more sensitive than the S1000r. I used road to run my R in then tried sport which didn't change the TC. Track however makes the engine sing! Here is mine to get you through the next week or so!! Have you got a paddock stand yet? Matt
Looks nice Matt, not got stand yet, sold my Harris front yesterday(eBay)put rear on today along with all my BMW bits, usually use Harris unless you've got a recommendation Thanks
I use this one and find it very well made, stable and relatively inexpensive. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WFQ7ZQY/ref=pe_385721_37038051_TE_3p_dp_1 The Harris is circa £200. It might save you a few quid? Cheers
Thanks for the welcome everyone, deal done my bm gets picked up tomorrow so hopefully should have mine in a week or so,pics to follow
