    a four cylinder engine lately?
Afternoon everyone. After aliens spirited away my beloved Speed Triple at the end of February, insurance has finally agreed a revised valuation (still a kick in the jewels!) and I have picked up a fairly clean TT600 on an 02 plate. Vendor was quite straight about things, and highlighted a weeping cam cover seal. I like a dabble, fix commuter trains for a living, so have set about whipping the fairings off, radiator out (giving it a service at the same time, new coolant) and got everything out of the way. The $!@&ing cover still won't come out of the frame! Any tips or hints for this conundrum would go a long way to me preserving my sanity.
    Thanks, Dave.

Hi Dave, I have a tt600 that I do all my own work on, the cam cover needs a bit of wiggling around to remove it, and it is a bloody tight fit on the cam chain end, in order to make it easier, and help avoid any damage, remove the mounting bolts on the top and bottom of the rad, pull the rad off the left mounting dowel, and swing it out of the way, this will allow more access, but as I've already said, it is tight, and does involve a bit of a jiggle, but it can be done. The torque setting for the bolts upon refitting is 10nm. Good luck. martingw1

Sorry, just noticed, sensibly you have already removed the rad, it's just a case of much waggling around, and skinned knuckles. Good luck martingw1

Thanks for your input gents. Martin, I must have spent 20-30 mins just getting to the same place every time. Like you say it just don't seem to lift high enough to clear the cam chain on the offside. Dozers Dad, I did contemplate the removal of engine/frame bolts but without the tool to undo the collars (now ordered), that's where my dabbling had to end. I think that is going to provide a more satisfactory outcome, it's easy to visualise that rotation around the rear mounting should lead to the half to three quarters gap needed. And there's always the re-fitting to take into consideration

    NEWSFLASH!!!
My son gave me a hand this morning and the jammy so-and-so had the idea of removing the old gasket first. Managed to weedle it out and the cover came off relatively easily. Had a dry run putting it back and seemed easier than trying to get it off. Long and short of it is it's done. Not run the bike up yet, couldn't take any problems at the moment having been on night shift last night:confused:
