    Hi there,

Has anyone insured their bobber yet?

I am unable to get any quote yet. My red bobber meanwhile sits in the showroom.

Bikesure was the only one to quote me a ridiculous quote. I am surprised that Triumph did not sort this our early enough.

I think the joke is. People are buying these "bobbers". Saw One in the flesh yesterday , and instantly thought make a good donors bike engine OK and less to take off and toss away !! They are a good starting point for those that wish to build a project machine starting with new bits !

    Hi Sandeep,

I have got my Bobber insured with Bikesure.

Ring them and give them the following reference number...........ABI 81080279, this is the insurance identification number the Bobber has been given.

If you still have no luck ring the Triumph Factory on 01455 251700 and ask to speak to the sales department. Then ask to speak to Micheal Niblet, he's a regional sales manager, so he's further up the greasy pole of command.

Explain your problem......he got 'his contact' inside Bikesure to call me and I got the insurance sorted ou pdq.

    Cheers,

    Hi DD,

.......honestly, you boys and your jolly japes!.........

.... I'm guessing after you and capt went on that extended Bobber test ride it is only right that you share your unbiased opinions, still one mans meat and all that......or are the walls of the 'broad church' of this Forum squeezing in just a bit?.......

....anyway, with Bobbers being in short supply you two will make another couple of folk on the waiting list for them happy....

    Cheers,

    dickydido

Thank you all. I have finally managed to get a reasonable quote from Carole Nash. It is still higher than what i expected. However, i am fine for now and am picking up the bike on Friday.

I will post me feedback and experience here.

    cheers

    Hi Sandeep,

.....glad to hear you got it sorted.....now just get out and enjoy it.

Being an old git I remember having the Norwich Union Rider Insurance Policy...........

......with that you could own as many bikes as you could afford to buy.......after all....you can only ride one bike at a time.....so at any one time it insured the bike you were actually out riding on.......what ever happened to that?.......clearly it did not give enough opportunity to extort cash!

It pee's me off that I could not use my NCD when I insured my Bobber........'because sir, it's new business!'.........

......and I replied......'yes, I know it's new business but I am still just as experienced to ride this bike as well as the other one I own, it's less powerful, is cheaper in value and will be stored and secured in exactly the same way as my other bike so why are you telling me I am a higher risk on it?'............their computer (and account - c*nts) just said no!........

    ....legal robbery at its best.

    Cheers

Was in the local stealership yesterday, he was complaining that Triumph bring out these new models, then can't supply them. Happened with the Thruxton and now with the Bobber, had two orders cancelled on him, they customers got fed up waiting on Bobber arriving.
First time I saw one in the flesh, thought it looked pretty smart. Get all them bare metal parts covered in ACF50 before it gets wet and mucky, be a swine to try and recover if it did tarnish.

Apparently Triumph have pulled forward Bobber production so bikes will now be available from July.

    Hi dickydido,
Having owned for 15 yrs , a ridgid 1941 BSA M20 I do not feel the need for speed on the new Bobber ! As My America has been modded to fulfill that need, and Dozer probably had his the same.
The ridgids of old were the latest in 'technology' !!! I don't think we need to wind time backwards !!

    Cheers capt.

    Hi capt,

Nobody is asking or forcing you to buy a Bobber to 'wind time backwards'.......however it seems you have created your own nostalgic time machine by running your M20......I wish you fun and enjoyment in its ownership and riding it.

I used to race a 1929 Rudge Ulster with the VMCC and had a 1935 Rudge Special on the road, so I have good experience of riding genuine rigid bikes....plus all their other idiosyncrasies....vibration, very poor brakes, oil leaks, flakey electrics, reliability etc...with great respect, these machines whilst fun and 100% authentic examples of 'how it used to be' are hardly suitable to today's roads and even more importantly, the driving conditions and standards we have to put up with on those roads from other drivers in particular.

The Bobber, for me at least, rides and performs in a very similar vane to my old Special, the power is readily available right off the bottom end of the rev range, I hate engines where you have to rev the nuts off it and need to change down one or even more gears to accelerate past something........and as for not needing the speed of the Bobber, Mike Hailwood once famously said.....'the throttle works both ways'......so there is no need to explore the upper reaches of the Bobbers capabilities if you choose not to..........but believe me it is a very pleasurable experience if you do.

With all the speed camaras about, sustained high speed in excess of the national speed limits are a short cut to being caught with its associated impact on your license and your bank account.....get 12 points and win a pushbike sir!......whereas burst of hard acceleration, in carefully selected venues have a much smaller risk whilst still proving exciting, and excitement for me is one of the key joys of riding motorbikes..........so all in all the Bobber, with its looks that look like an old bike so it sits nicely in my rose tinted memories, modern components, electronics and not just electrics now! plus it's cleverly hidden rear suspension system that offers a degree of movement to ease the road shocks from my arthritic 61 year old spine..........it is a great machine for me.......and it would seem many others.

The choice of a motorbike is a very personal thing and thankfully the modern market place is so full nowadays of different types and styles that it is possible to select one.....or more if you have the wherewithal......that suits your taste....no matter how weird that may seem to others around you.....

.....but I do wish that all these modern bits of eye and emotion candy were still priced at 'the golden age of motorcycling's' prices........I pay more now for a bike than I did for my first house!......

.....what a dull place it would be if we all had and rode the same bikes, variety is indeed the spice of life....so in closing I encourage everybody, please enjoy what you have chosen to buy and ride and let others do the same, and if your choice turns out not to tickle your fancy like you hoped it would......change it.

    Cheers,

    dickydido
