Urgent Help Needed

Thoroughly clean the piston and apply Castrol red rubber grease around the seal and a light coating on the piston diameter.
Carefully feed the piston back into the cylinder and push it all the way in.
Make sure the reservoir cap is off.
You will need to thoroughly bleed the system to get any air locks out.

 

What MickEng said. If you haven't got rubber grease you can use brake fluid as a lubricant to ease the piston in. Make sure everything is thoroughly clean and settle in for a full bleed of the system.

 

Did you bleed the ABS pump too ?

 

Hi Noggin, if you are confident enough to fit new brake pads, why do you feel the need to take it in for a service ?
Is it one of the major services ?
If not, changing your oil, checking your chain, changing plugs, filters, general check over and lubrication would be a doddle for you.

 

Noggin, there's enough guys down your way, why not ask for a list of recommended mechanics or garages who service triumphs, they will be a hell of a lot cheaper and probably better. I had my 12000 done last year took it to a dealer and it cost me £800 and even then didn't service it properly, so from now on it's me or independent mechanic

I spoke to a dealer mechanic about ABS bleed and the need to use a lap top ;- He said he had not heard this and it was rubbish.
Tunecu now have ABS Bleed on there software, so you can do it at home. I will watch to see what your guy says next week.

Even from Southampton its probably worth a trip to Clive Wood (many do). See it done right and save a wallet full of cash as well. He can even put peeps up overnight if needed and if you like to sample local ales.
