Hey Billy! FANTASTIC news - you've resurrected a really nice bike. Well done. I'll make sure that Barry gets to see and hear the fantastic results from your efforts - I'm sure he'll be pleased, but possibly not QUITE as much as, I suspect, are you!

    Nice work. :D

As I understand it, the heat/cool cycle of the tank causes water to condense and collect in the fuel. Also, the more volatile components of the gasoline vent off, like naptha. That explains why what remains doesn't burn very well. :p I'm going to drain the fuel with a hand pump I think, having done the tank removal before. I'll do the injector cleaner with new gas like you did, too.

The single sided swing arm houses an eccentric hub to allow chain tensioning. On my '99 T ST the hub was seized right up (thanks main dealer in Exeter) and the spanner from triumph (a monster 'C' type) was clearly made from cheese.....so I would give that a good clean up with the wheel out so you don't get issues trying to tension your new chain...
I still have the spanner if it's any good to you (slightly bent...) and a red pillion cover too if anyone wants one.

Aaah ...... the (dreaded) "main dealer in Exeter"!! If it wasn't for the laws of libel .................... suffice to say that I haven't set foot on their premises since about 1994. I strongly suspect there's been very little improvement in the overall "customer experience" during my self imposed absence.

Yeah - your ST was serviced exclusively by our local butcher's shop .... sorry, BRIDGE (not Bridgewater) Motorcycles - main dealer servicing at its finest! AHEM!!

Like I said earlier, if it wasn't for the laws of libel ............

Fantastic work that , Billy! The original owner is going to be very impressed and, I hope, pleased with the progress you're making.

It has been fun--and impressive--to read about and see photos and videos of your resurrection of STeffi, Billy! I'm looking forward a report on your test ride about your MOT appointment on Saturday. I'll keep my fingers crossed she's a good runner and doubly crossed for good weather. :sun::)

Great work Billy - you must be stoked and I'm sure Baz. will be delighted, too! Looks like you're still running the tyres that were on there - sensible, I reckon. Until you get some idea of their response I would just keep a close eye on pressure then give them a bit of welly - at least on the straight and narrow!

    Stay safe and enjoy.

Yes I’ve noticed there’s not quite as much engine braking as some other twins I’ve had, like the Mille or my last Beemer, but who cares, it’s a peach of an engine
Probably about the best engine for a road bike, and certainly the best twin I’ve had. :grinning:
