I thought I would tap the collective experience (& wisdom?!) of folk who have been in the bike marketplace recently. I have decided it is time to part company with my 2005 T100 with about 20k on the clock but, being ‘mildly mature’, don’t want a string of coughing and sneezing tyre kickers banging on the door. I have a deep seated suspicion of ‘we buy anything’ crew and not getting a fairing (fair!) price for an already inexpensive bike. Thoughts?
It depends on how quickly you want to sell. If you sell to a dealer you will only get 'trade price' the dealer will want to put a mark up of around £1,000 on your bike to cover his costs. With dealer prices for a 2005 T100 of around £4,000 - £4,500 you would probably be offered somewhere around £3,000. If you are not in a particular hurry to sell you could see whether a dealer would be prepared to sell for you on commission which would mean you could be waiting for a sale but would receive more at the end of the day. I sold my Tuono on Facebook Marketplace, no tyre kicking was conducted just some strong negotiations but got the price I really wanted for it from first interested party
