I wouldn't mind them quite so much if they made some effort to be seen. The vast, vast majority of them wear dingy clothing and have no running lights in the day time. I've even seen them wearing camouflage coloured Lycra for fukcs sake. Dark clothing on a sunny day on roads with trees alongside means they just can't be seen as they go from a light area to the darkness under the trees. Mostly, they are a bloody menace and should be obliged to wear hivis and use flashing LED's front and back. Individual cyclists are bad enough but mass groups should definitely be banned from public roads. They're usually racing each other or against their own previous best time for route "a to b" and pay no regard to other road users [or traffic lights]. I'm particularly wary of the ones with helmet cams attached to them. They are usually deliberately looking for trouble to record.

Just in case anyone thinks my Avatar might indicate that I'm a horse riding menace - I don't think horses belong on public roads any more than cyclists do. All my riding was done on Ashdown Forest [or, in the picture, on Camber Sands], a very long way from roads and people.

Cyclists, horse-riders, pedestrians, et al should remember that "having a right to be on the road" won't help when a truck runs over you.

What I don't understand is racing seems to be permitted on the public highway on bicycles, surely this is dangerous as riders compete for places and overtake without any regard for other road users?

I get really pissed by idiot cyclists, car drivers and bikers. I am a cyclist, car driver and biker.

As someone earlier said there is an a**hole brigade in every aspect of life and they give everyone a bad name. Get ALL the idiots off the road.

Highway code section 66. If they are more than two abreast, or not in single file on a busy road or around bends, they are in breach of the highway code.

It is every road user's duty to avoid accidents, so I am not sure where a driver would stand if they gave room for them (if they were riding legally) but no more, and the self-entitled twats ended up in the gutter as a result of their own selfish attitude.

While it's great that people are getting out on cycles, and nobody has a problem with this, it is the asshats that ride as if the rules don't apply to them that get my panties in a bunch - and yet it is those same people who whinge and whine about people not giving them space
