Because some others think outside the box too!! I’ve 2x Bmw v 1x Triumph. The R18 is a ‘modular’ base and can have many clothes!! I like it better that the Triumph current range
It's a 2018. It's fine now but there's been a few trivial issues but the major one Triumph couldn't fix and I had to fund, despite their official remedy failing and the bike still being under warranty. This was the stalling problem, to fix it I had to have a custom map which also involved new silencers so that gas analyzer probes could get far enough down the pipes. I think all in that was around £800. The bike in standard trim before mapping was in a mess as far as AFR goes. Running way too lean and hot. There's been a number of recalls too. The most un-funny being the side stand spring breaking. Spring breaks, stand comes down, bike stalls. Marvelous. Triumph have a loyal fan base but their bikes are most definitely not without their problems. Mine was cheaper to fix than to suffer the loss in selling so that's what I did. I still like the bike very much and don't plan on selling anytime soon.
thats poor you having to pay when the bike is still in warranty, I’ve only had minor things wrong with triumphs I’ve bought new touch wood, the worst was a cam chain tensioner on a street triple that went on to do 30.000 trouble free miles,I know lads with BMW’s mainly GS 1200 who’ve had lots of very expensive bother.
So have I, but you wouldn't pay good money for it!!! And what is it with modern exhausts these days? Most of them seem fugly on a good day. Heaven knows what the bloody things weigh!! Now, when I were a lad ............
Personally, I have never been into cruiser/bobber style bikes but between the two, I prefer the Rocket, more pleasing to the eye. That said, I really like the CCM Spitfire (which is now on my want list).
Those mufflers were based on the 1930s bike, but now I think Euro emissions 4/5? Partly dictate the size of silencers, but not the shape . That bike could have a large square muffler underneath and small neat end cans, as some manufacturers already do. Ricardo Motorcycles have some interesting info on motorcycle Euro emissions. Ken.
Or as my American friend would say "it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on its way down to the ground!".
