A work of art has arrived for my Thruxton RS... a beautiful custom built Café Racer Style aluminium fairing built to order by the craftsmen from Omega Racing in Thailand...
    Ela is also very impressed...
Now the decision to be made.... paint it black to match the bike or should I leave it polished...???

That's a really nice fairing, looks to be made to a very high standard.

I won't be making any decision before it is fitted... but I suspect it will look great against the jet Black livery..

In answer to your question, leave the aluminium fairing as it is, don't paint it. It looks to be very high quality and is certainly impressive in the pics. You don't see many like that, at least not over here. If you paint it then you may as well have had it made in fibreglass or some such. You want to be able to admire it each time you take the bike out and have other bikers look on in envy..as I am already. If it was black I wouldn't give it much more than second glance because I've seen them before and assume they're plastic.
If anyone disagrees, ignore them

I will be painting the fairing black with gold striping to match the colour of the forks and Ohlins shocks.
Stripes similar to as shown below.... starting from front mudguard, virtical on front of fairing, across top of tank (strap deleted) and top of seat cowl.
The black fairing below has been photo shopped for a comparison.

Yeah, the polished ally is nice but I don't think it goes with the rest of the bike.

Exactly... I would be brilliant if the tank and rear cowl were also polished

Polished Aluminium can look the dogs but it's quite high maintenance to keep it that way, just don't even consider laquer coating. After seeing the tank I'd agree with your choice of colour match, plus a good paint/laquered finish will be more resilient and far less work than a polished finish.

I would have a high quality paint job to my liking. The Ali Fairing is a part of the build history not the final finish
