That's a fantastic pic I love to see kids and dogs together, especially when it's breeds that have a bad rep like bullies and rotties etc The sooner kids interact with dogs the better in my book, having said that, my grandson is petrified of dogs at the moment, Milly tear arsing around like a demon probably isn't helping the cause though He'll learn though
Dogs and kids..... I've had five lovely boxers over the years since 1992. Every single one of them was FANTASTIC with kids. It's like they each just knew that they needed to be a wee bit calmer and more careful. Our current boxer, Annie, gravitates towards kids like the dickens. If there's a kid around, she pretty much ignores any adult in the vicinity and makes a beeline for the child. I'd heard that was bred into them somehow, but it's amazing to see that in action!
Great photo, DD! "The Nanny dog". That's perfect. Pit bulls seem to be the most demonized here in the US. And I'd say for the same reason you noted...many of the owners are dickheads that, as you said it so well, "use them as an extension of their own inadequate personalities". Pisses me off. I have a neighbor who fosters pit bulls. She loves them to pieces and they respond accordingly--super sweet and lovely dogs.
Staffies and other bull breeds with problems, to find the problem look at the other end of the lead not the dog.
