Ohlins Fork Springs

    Most owners of the R model have complained about the fork springs being to harsh on the ohlins...i contacted Ohlins and they recommended ... 08790-90 with 9,0 N/mm springs..... the stock ones are 9.5 N/mm...has anyone gone this way using the 9.0 rather than send the forks out for re valve etc

    They are harsh, but I'd recommend a suspension specialist to take a look and diagnose.

    I'm lightweight, however I went with firmer springs, less preload and reduced compression damping. This meant the forks would react faster to bumps, less likely to skip over too. Made a massive difference.

    Thanks Matt.... any adjustments in the forks alters the sag..... i have already set the forks up to what you suggested, less re/comp.. just waiting until the weekend to test...pre 5... comp 15... reb 12.. i will just play with the comp testing on the highway, see how it turns out if it dont i will go for the 9.0 springs, i changed the fork oil few weeks back.

    I ended up on my test ride stopping and starting making final adjustments forks Pre 5 out from hard.. comp 20...reb 10...rear.... Pre 2 threads showing above top ring.... comp 20..reb11.. feels much better than before, not perfect but i will leave it at that... before i had to much rebound, going over the top ...now the forks come up and stops... got this sorted after watching Dave Moss.. adjustments made when oil was hot in suspension

    I had a suspension specialist do all the adjustments and it's much better than it was. The rear shock is a little stiff because the valving can stick, which requires a tear-down. I'll have him rebuild the rear at some point, but it's not bad at all.

    The bike handles even better now.

    Well guys after all this adjusting i decided to order new springs still to harsh over any uneven roads here in Cali...getting the 9.0 N/mm

    I fitted the new springs today the old ones had no numbers, the first owner must have fitted these stiff springs could be progresive.. i can now set the sag, before i had the pre up and down little adjustment.... feels much better in garage....These ohlins springs are not cheap... 135 quid for the pair inc UPS.......$174

    New springs sorted setting the rider sag 5 turns in from full soft..40mm sag...have to do road test for the comp and reb... and bring the sag to 30/35mm
