Hi guys, Collected my new Street Triple R 765 today and not a happy camper! 1. The bite point seems so high you've bearly any clutch to play with (don't know the phrase I'm looking for!)and getting off the lights quickly is a mission. 2. The bike seems to be chugging at 30-40mph not a smooth delivery of power at all. I get the engine needs to bed in but these issues are concerning. My old Street Triple R had none of these issues and yes the ride isn't as smooth but what I am paying the extra for! Any new Striple owners able to give an informed opinion? Cheers
Point 1 sounds like a simple cable adjustment issue. Point 2 needs amplification. Revs? Gear? Lugging?
Tried between 2 to 4th gear starting at around 4000rpm. I'll try again tomorrow and report more on this. Cheers
.......adjust that clutch first to make sure it is not clutch slip! A new clutch might judder a bit in comparison with one bedded in.
1st- where the dickens are the pictures of your new bike. 2nd- why didnt you just go straight back to the dealer for assistance bud?
Haha will post tomorrow. Wasn't until I go off the back roads in to usual traffic near home (1hr away) it started to play up. Steve at Triumph (who has been good so far) emailed to say: "Not sure on the RPM when @ 30mph in 2nd or 3rd, if it’s anything less than 4K in 3rd the new 765 engines prefer it higher up, just an engineering trade off for the way the engine has been tuned for the latest model. The 675 was a more low down torque motor but lacked in HP at the top end which the 765 certainly makes up for. This is what I can only assume you are experiencing after jumping straight off your 675 into the new 765. The engine will naturally free up as she beds in. Can’t say for sure obviously without trying it out" I was around 4000rpm I'm sure.
Ive had a go of a few street rs's this year and by your description it sounds like the first one i tried, on/off jerky throttle, flat until higher rpms, in all honesty i thought it was a death trap and way too much for my missus for whom it was for, i had to pull over at work and have 5 minutes off it. Hahaha The second one was a gem, smooth and canny fast and looks lovely in white..... see what its like with a few miles on but definitely get it looked at if ya not happy matey.
Cheers. I'm hoping it beds in as some of my ride is town commuting which the 675 R did with ease. They seem helpful but my Fazer (soon to be purchased) will be taking the weight off this baby in the winter and wet days (and my wallet for maintenance and insurance) . The Triple business insurance was nearly an extra £100 per 1000 miles!
When I took mine in for the 500 mile service I was told they reset the computer so it would take some miles to relearn my riding style, every ride gets smoother. At 626 miles now and the motor seems freed up.
After the winter hack getting all the attention it's time I celebrate the new arrival. So photos attached. Sadly he's been under cover since since a week last Saturday. I want to upgrade the mirrors (look and are crap as a mirror) and anodised (right word?) front reservoir as it looks plasticy and crap. TNT display is quality, I just need to bed the engine in to iron out the above moans!
Get rid of that hideously massive number plate mount too. It’ll so much neater with a decent tail tidy. Nice bike though mate, congrats and enjoy. Be careful with that display too, you don’t want it exploding on yer!
Thanks mate. I had a courtesy call from Triumph and aired my disappointment at a couple of things. F#*ING weather I might get to ride her again in September! Haha yer it's TNT display
