Hubby and I are planning a trip up to the Highlands. Leaving on Saturday for a week. :cool:Planning is still underway with actual route not finalised yet. Ordered a big route map which should have arrived yesterday, but of course it is MIA
So tonight I will be trying to use a mix of an A-Z map book, old routes on my sat nav we have done before and google maps :no_mouth:o_O
Managed to sort out accomodation for the week. Staying in Blairgowrie on the way up and then three nights with friends in Brora, then onwards to Strathcarron area then Inverness and finally Selkirk on the way back down.
As part of prep I had to get my bike run in, so did 600 miles over two weekends. Dropped her off for a service this morning and took a Speed Twin as a loan bike. Quite impressed with it. One day when I grow up and no longer want a hooligan bike, I might consider one of these.:imp:

i (we) went anti-clockwise and glad we did. The road from tongue onwards was amazing but the bit to john o groats was a bit so-so!
    It's a brilliant trip!
    Enjoy!!!

@Ducatitotriumph we have done it both directions before and I agree - the bit to JOG from probably helmsdale onwards is naf. We will probably cut the corner. There is a beautiful route past some lochs we did last time, if I can find it on the map
Both times we have done it before it has chucked it down most of the time. Hoping for better weather this time -I’d actually like to see the view at Applecross this time :grinning:

Someone on the telly (or was it on the radio?) the other day said that 'growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional'. Couldn't agree more.

A friend and I did Scotland last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, despite the Highland weather. We took a week from 'Hull and back'. Here's the Scottish part with our nightly stops marked. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the map @Riggers - but you have missed out probably the best bits down the west coast  You must do Ullapool, Torridon, Sheildaig, Applecross And rest of Wester Rosss etc. Spectacular views and riding. Now you have an excuse to do it again!
