I've been looking into moving the regulator on my 2012 Bonneville, I've seen you can buy a billet ally plate to do this relatively easily but being a skinflint I'm toying with the idea of making my own out of some ally I have kicking around. My question is is it actually as straightforward as it looks and are there any pitfalls I should look out for?
wherever its gets moved to it needs to be kept well ventilated and preferably in the air flow, the pitfall of failing to do so will be the cost of its replacement
I was thinking about moving it to the front frame tubes about where the standard horn goes. I'm quite familiar with what happens when they get hot, found out the hard way just why you have to fit a Fireblade one to a sizeable ally plate to act as a heat sink
From memory... space forward of the horn bezel is pretty tight. You may need to go a little higher than that to avoid mudguard contact on full fork compression.
Cheers All I want to change to twin horns as well so I'll bear that in mind about clearance to the mudguard and may well mount them either side of where I want the regulator to go.
