Anyone going to the NEC next month? A small group of my friends and I meet up there every year to look at the latest and greatest from the manufacturers, try to bag a few clothing bargains but mostly to discuss ride outs and holiday plans for 2015 What bikes are you most interested in looking at? Seeing the Tiger 800XC SE on Triumph's stand last year made my mind up on buying one....... so far its been great but that doesn't stop me looking. I'm hoping to see a new model from Triumph but not sure there will be anything new. I'm also looking forward to the KTM, BMW and CCM stands. Not sure the Japanese will have anything that will interest me but you never know.
Richard Your not going to come back from the NEC having brought a 300bhp Kawasaki Ninja H2. Wont be able to go as already going to watch the All Black give Wales a kicking in Cardiff next month  Also Operation desert rat bike has resumed, hope to get a fair bit done over the winter.
Me and my mates go every year Have only just got my first triumph so will look forward to see what kit I could buy for it
I shall be there with a few pals, normal order is wonder round looking at bikes, then stop over on say night for curry and quite a few beers. Happy days... Be interesting to see the new kwak h2 and I'm hoping the new r1 isn't a revelation - I really can't afford one as well as the speed which I won't be selling
Exactly what we do :upyeah: We've booked the Premier Inn in Hinkley so we can do the curry and beers after.
No Steve I doubt I can cram my body onto a H2 or any other sports bike. Must be my age but last year I sat on a Harley Davidson Fat Bob and thought "mmm that's not bad" Perhaps my good lady and I found the perfect two wheeled transport at last years show, although I am quite a nervous pillion lol.
I'm going, tickets booked on line, not far to travel for me. The only thing I don't get is Triumph don't take any gear just the bikes which is a shame. Going on the Monday should be bit quieter Mark
Looking like there will be plenty of new bikes to sit on and look at this year although most of the exotic superbikes look like mini-motos when I sit on them. Just a pointer if you take your car try parking at the adjoining railway station car park, it's cheaper than the NEC and much closer as you can walk over a walkway and your in the halls.
As Richard says about the car park,it is cheaper , think it is a fiver, but also much easier to get out of the car park. I go to lots of concerts there and know how bad it can be. I am not going this year, have been with free tickets for past two years ( friend works in the industry) but even without having to pay i found it boring last year. It was all a bit same old same old to me, the only bike i sat on and felt at home with straight away was the Tiger Sport. I dont think much of new bikes tbh,ok they look lovely but they are kind of sterile to me. I do love the speed triple but when i sat on one it felt all wrong for my weird shaped body,I was gutted. prefer the old 955i, that is my dream bike right now,oh or a mark 1 speedy,or a 70s hurricane. norton 750 commando, or a mint cb750 k0.................see what I mean?? Didnt even like the classic bike section, there are only so many 1959 Bonnies i can take, and same with goldies, love them, but.......... Anyway time to stop being grumpy now, hope you all have a great time there.
Go every year. Normally by bike but this time it's in a car with a mate who's mothballed his bikes till next spring. He suffers with arthritis in his knees. So bikes are seasonal. I thought I'd offer him a day out and leave mine in the garage. Oh and have you noticed the amount of blokes getting out of cars in the carpark wearing full biker kit!! They look like they're faking riding to the show??
lol could be worse, coming on the bus and showing your pensioners pass with your leather jacket and levi cut off over it, deep purple in rock patch.faded jeans tucked into lewis leathers touring boots.
Me and the Mrs are going. We normally go about every other year.Looking forward to this year as there seem to be quite a few new models out. Looking forward to the new R1200RS and generally clambering all over anything I can. I might have a look at some luggage but not planning to sell the Speed next year, trouble is the SWMBO is looking to change her's,I'll leave the credit card at home!
I might try this as waiting for the shuttle bus drives me nut's. If I park at the station can I just walk over to the NEC or do I go through the station?
Go through the main door to the station opposite the car park. Go up the escalator and just follow the signs it isnt far at all. Have a good day there
