Would you believe its so hard to find Double D fastening now? I trust HJC, have done for years, and their IS-Max 2 is flip front is ideal for what I need and Double D .................................up until 2016, now they use this micro metric system that I don't trust! There is a red 15 model on eBay in the States which will match my bike but probably only has DOT marking and not EU, so thats probably no good, waiting for confirmation as some made for Europe and States have both marks in the U.S. If I buy off eBay in Britain the listings are different, some list Micro, other DD, so its possible I can still get DD, but any one had these Micro Metric and what do they think of it? 'Seat belt' type is out of the question, since my wife nearly lost hers on the M1 when it came un-done. Double D are used by most on the tracks, so I still think they are best, thanks for any help and opinions. Terry

I missed the point you made about a requiring a flip front helmet….. Anyway, pleased to hear you've got something sorted.
The ambulance service and paramedics prefer the seat belt design as less movement to free off if necessary. Flip front is also favoured as again access in the event of an accident. Certain manufacturers are moving away from DD fastening.
Most manufacturers are moving away From DD, its impossible to find any DD's on flip fronts apart from old stock , I've spent the last few days trying!! Seems like the seat belt buckle type is going out of favour too, no great loss! Still plenty of DD's on full face helmets but they are being phased out as well, so I'm told IF I found any its the wrong size, wrong colour or too expensive for my purse, so I've had to settle on a micro metric, 1st one I've had. Ordered an AGV Compact Course White/Red flip front for a bloody good price, with pinlock included from The Sportsbike Shop, so I'l see how I get on with that.

New AGV helmet arrived today, comes with a Pinlock visor free, do these work or are they an (expensive) gimmick? Fitted mine but cant get out to try it yet, helmet seems very well made, and fits perfectly, not yet convinced about the ratchet strap buy time will tell. I like the sun visor and that it's legal to ride with or with-out the visor down, and apparently it's now not required to have the ECE sticker on the back as long as it has the stitched in label on the strap. Pinlock works well, it really keeps the visor from misting up. It's like having double glazing on your visor!
Git pin lock on mine, no misting, wife has same helmet no pin lock, no misting! Mind you she hasn't used it much, I will try it some day to see if it does.
I can also vouch for the Pin Lock system, got a photochromic one on my Arai Astro-R and it's a great addition. The helmet also has a double D fastener :?)
I've got a pin lock on my clear shoei visor...doesn't mist up...no pin lock on my dark visor - does mist up
I've had the AGV for a while now, I'd give it 7.5 out of 10. Likes: The helmet is legal to ride with the flip front up or down as its tested and has the right legal numbers for both uses on the ECE label. For a helmet weighing in at more than 1/4 of a kilo it doesn't feel that heavy on, and is well balanced, even with the flip-front up and using it as a 'jet' helmet at about 40 mph its not trying to pull my head back. Button to release the flip can be a bit fiddly when riding, but will get used to it, probably me as its in a different position to my old one. The catch's and pins look to be well made, I'd trust it not to spring open in a crash. Visor easy to lift and lower. Interior padding comes out for cleaning, not a lot of it though, plenty of polystyrene shell visible. Outer shell very nicely made, any colour relief is painted/printed, not stickers. No ECE sticker on the rear out side, I queried this with the Sportbikeshop, they say more manufacturer's are not putting them on, they sew it in on the strap and its perfectly legal now. Comes with a Pinlock in the box, visor Pinlock ready. I was pleasantly surprised that is no more noisy at 70mph than and full face helmet, the joins are pretty tight, the vents are reasonably easy to open/close with winter gloves, easier with thinner summer gloves. Dis-likes: The sun visor lever is a fucking night-mare to find a find let alone operate, too small for gloved hand and impossible to flip up or down in a hurry, fumbling around trying to feel for it could be dangerous!! The visor seems a bit flimsy too, and not very dark, works after a fashion. Jury's still out on whether or not I like to quick release fastener, cant get away from the fact you can do/undo easily with winter gloves on, but still not feeling I could trust it to stay fastened when most needed, I hope I never need to find out! The only other criticism is the point at the bottom of the flip front does restrict me from looking down at, say, the GPS on the tank, but not the end of the World, just moved it slightly more forward on the tank. Price: RRP £189.99, but you'd be daft to pay that, lots on offer through the 'web. I hope this might help if you are in the market for a new flip front, you could do worse, probably not a lot better for the money if you buy right. Terry
