That would be hurtful Sandi (and a little mercenary) wouldn't it if people are saying that COVID deaths of the elderly didn't matter as they are old and due to die anyway. What I see/hear people saying, which is different in a subtle way, is that many elderly people are dying with COVID but not necessarily of COVID. In other words, because they have underying health issues which would have caused their passing earlier anyway, the onset of COVID has aggravated their condition but would not be the primary cause of death.
I hope the Scots, the Welsh and the Irish stay with us - we were/are a formidable team acting together - I cannot see what the hell they hope to gain by separation.
That Bum wipe Robertson was our local MP until he and his SNP cronies where ousted, the problem is the central belt with so many tiny constituencies and folk that give the SNP their numbers
Well you can’t be too critical of the medics. Look what a fantastic job of curing people they are doing in Eire........ or maybe they aren’t ill now and we have a PR pandemic. We are being lied to.
Some people believe in free stuff. The amazing thing, if you believe the polls, is that Scots are determined to keep the Pound (it’s our Pound!) but utterly fail to grasp they would have to use it as Puerto Rico uses the dollar - with no control over exchange rates and potentially paying far, far more for the same mortgage in Langholm as your English neighbour a few miles away in Longtown. If I need to explain that, itself, explains the problem and why the SNP play it down.
And what that shows is <10,000 excess deaths due to COVID compared to UK (excluding Scotland) average for the past five years (that doesn't mean that those deaths do not matter).
Not even necessarily that.... a positive swab could be: a. False b. Dead virus from an old infection c. Dead virus killed by immune system with no infection d. Active infection None of which make Covid THE cause of death and only the latter MIGHT be THE cause or just A cause. Hence the best current fatality estimate of less than .05% across the whole population. The response is wildly disproportionate.
Actually, and very unfortunately, Thripster, that's not what I'm hearing. I'm hearing what I originally said I'm very sad to report.
I agree entirely Callumity (see my figures in earlier posts). I have quoted the press figures - they are beginning to cotton that the remedy is worse than the so called cure.
This afternoon His nasal gastric tube had ‘fallen out’. This is an impossibility given the way these are placed. Basically they are now actively trying to kill him, relying on their assumption of lack of knowledge on our part (they are shit out of luck there given that my sister is a nurse and I have friends who are professional carers) to disguise their actions, so solicitors in PALS are now getting involved. If the ward staff are not charged with attempted murder at the very least they will be at a gross misconduct hearing. They bring shame to the NHS and anything I hear about how they are all heroes and they deserve higher wages Is basically a crock of shit. While it may be true for some of them, this bunch of malignant tumours on the face of humanity need lining up and shooting before they get an extra penny from my taxes. In fact I would gladly donate the ammunition they deserve to be shot with, free gratis! Now, while I feel this is the case obviously I would not go down the route of taking the law into my own hands, but it is monstrous the way these people are behaving towards my dad. They seem to be following the Harold Shipman method of community care.
Hi Sandi, Don't know what happened to the preamble to my message but it went something like this:- Hi Sandi, Over here, the press and the pundits are beginning to realise that, in the majority of cases, the poor elderly victims had other health related issues that were aggravated by contracting Covid 19. Wasn't disputing what you are hearing over there. Wasn't trying to convince you otherwise.
Got my appointment with the orthopaedic consultant Feckin 27th of November and so it drags on lockdown starts Thursday We’ll see
It's an inconvenient time to be ill you idiot, didn't you know that? You've my full sympathy, joking aside, it's a bastard. I've had bad shoulder and neck issues that I've just had to ride out with scant support or help. The one that's upset me is my kid (24, still my youngest kid so, baby) has ulcerative colitis and when it flares there is fuck all help. I could go on a 'rant of the day' that would make duck look balanced
My face palm emoji is for your circumstances, dilli. Geez, this is unbelievable. I'm so sorry to read about this new turn of events. Hopefully this time around the "lockdowns" won't prohibit things like necessary medical appointments. Hang in there.
I can really sympathise with you @dilligaf my wife has several health issues and, since the start of this Covid19 shitstorm the NHS seem to have abdicated all duty of care to ordinary patients. Even my former Gestapo local GP has fecked off to be some sort of Covid19 curing God for greater glasgow NHS. I bet he is lording it up like he is feckin' Himmler or Klaus Barbie. Fortunately he is no loss to the village and I am sure the two locums that are filling in are way better than that asshole has ever been. My wife has a condition called Lichen Planus which means the lining of her mouth is inflamed to the extent that, often she struggles to eat and is in agony with it. The medicines she is currently prescribed are having no effect on her condition and she has been waiting since the start of the original lockdown for an appointment to get her eyes tested which is necessary before they try her on the next medicine in their arsenal which, apparently can serious screw your eyes. Believe it or not it's actually an anti-malaria treatment (Hydroxychlorquinine) and is the same medicine that was touted as a possible treatment for Covid19! Anyone know a good witchdoctor because the NHS sucks.
