Well, my 01 Bonneville lives again. I cleaned the carbs, cleaned the slides, put new gaskets, new float needles. I hooked up a temporary fuel line. Cranked right up. Let it idle a bit, gave it a little throttle and seemed responsive. But, it backfires horribly every time you give it throttle and at idle. Things I know about the bike that the previous owner did: it had the TORS installed at the dealership and was re-jetted. It had the emissions system bypassed and blocked off. Re-installed the airbox with a new air filter and new rubber inlets. I unplugged the TPS just to see, only to have the same result. I have included a link to the video of my bike running. I also included photos of my plugs. Keep in mind these plugs are brand new. On the upside, it fires right up and seems to idle well. I did not take note of which exhaust pipe the backfiring was coming out of, or if it was both. I'll do that tomorrow. I'm going to turn the idle mix screws out a bit to richen it and see if that helps. Here's the link in case the embedded video doesn't work:

I will take the valve cover of and see if the timing marks align if re cleaning the carbs doesn't fix it

You might want to try turning the idle screws in to lean the mixture a little as it would appear that there is too much fuel on overrun which is igniting in the exhaust.

Yep, tried that.. went all the in and then all the way out, it helped but it's definitely not right. I checked the air valve diaphragm also, it seemed fine.

Fixed it!!! Took off the carbs again and removed the jets. Found a tiny passage was blocked and I had to run a wire in it. It runs awesome now!!

6k miles from the dealership. It's now at 12k. The dealership said I can wait until about 30 or 40k.
But I will at least check clearances

What pipes have you got on the bike. Oem or Triumph of road versions. But it is fairy near what it should be. Just ride it for a while and have some fun. Joe
