Arc-on are a British company that will offer you altered versions of their race suits - kind of a midway house between off the peg and full bespoke. It can all be done by post and email. Interesting review. Leathers not the most comfortable thing for a ride out, unfortunately they are compulsory if you want to do a track day. Not knowing how my first track day would go last year I wasn't keen to spend a lot of money on leathers and managed to find a 2 piece on the clearance rack at J&S for £150. Finding something to fit off the peg is never an easy task for me, (monkey like proportions with long legs and arms) so what I ended up with is not what you'd call comfortable! Now done 3 track days and looking forward to more (intermediate instead of novice next time?) so when funds available will definitely have a look at arc-on.
Ive got a big body & little legs & have enough problems getting textiles to fit, leather even harder!
Yes - with a few exceptions, textiles are no good at high speed - they can grab the tarmac leading to additional twisting - another reason why racers have to wear leather. Personally I tend to wear textiles, except when its really warm, then its leather jacket and Draggin Jeans (the latter of which have abrasion resistance higher than some leather). On track though it would always be leather, even if it wasn't compulsory (which as you say, it is).. Arc on are good because you get a good fit at less than bespoke prices. Quality is the real deal too. I've suggested to them they offer interest free - so we'll see if that happens.
