Hi guys, apologies if this has been posted before. I have just purchased a 2008 Tiger 1050, its superb by the way, and I want to get both front headlights working. I have read I might only need an additional relay then they should work. Is this right, and has anybody got details of the relay I need. Also do I need new twin filament bulbs for dip and main on each side? Cheers
Twin filament bulbs are H4 with a common Earth. The 5 pin relays are common to swathes of auto and bike electrics. Hopefully you can work out how to achieve your aim from this: The separate on/off switch is optional and simply allows you to switch off if your lights are otherwise ‘always on’.
Tiger lights are a bit different to the norm. IIRC the dip is an h7 and main beam an h9. Adding an extra relay used to work on the tiger 955. Don't think it does on the 1050. If I was you I'd forget the idea and add auxiliary lighting instead. Pop a light bar under the nose cone and add some led lighting.
A useful addition. The long and short of it is to work out WHAT you want to achieve before fixing HOW you intend to achieve it. The bulbs are all different and it starts with the lamps/reflectors you already have in the fairing. Auxiliary driving lights like Givi Trekkers may be the neatest route to go.
I had a Ducati, 2005 999 that had pretty lousy headlights. I wanted both dipped and hi beam to come on at the same time. I opened the headlight control on the handle bar and soldered a small jump wire from low to hi beam. Worked a treat with no issues.
