Has anybody had any issues getting an MOT with Norman Hyde Classic Exhausts (with or without baffles)?

Passed with them on and baffles fitted for the test.

I often wonder how Hardley Ablesons get through MOTs with minimal silencing:eek::confused:. One rule for them and one for the rest of us?o_O:mad:

A lot of it is how the tester feels about the noise and what the bike should sound like. I had my Thruxton with bc predators passed at one triumph dealer and failed at another! It's a lottery!

I wonder if the dealers do the tests?

Oddly enough I was talking to a couple of fellow Bonneville owners today and was asking them about getting an MOT with loud pipes. It's the same old story and depends on where you go. Their MOT place takes the pragmatic view that you'll only go home and put the loud ones back on so they are happy to pass loud pipes.

One of the guys has a Street Triple with a carbon race can as well as a T100 with Norman Hyde's and has no problem at all, the other has Tec 2 into one on his Bonnie with no baffle.

It would be just my luck to get a jobsworth and a fail.

However, when the time comes I'll pop into my local place and ask them. If they insist on standard pipes I'll just use their MOT place, it's only 40mins away.

My old Guzzi Le Mans mk1, recently restored still has the big bore proddy racer pipes on with sod all in them and the mot tester put 2 advisories on the ticket 'offside exhaust very loud, near side exhaust very loud'

    Nice loud though !

ast least things were balanced, it would have been a worry if he only put an advisory on one

Its because most harleys are loud and expected to be, the go by how the bike should sound, I think and the majority of Triumphs arent that loud, my next MOT is going to be done at an independant
