    Hi all,

I've got a 2014 speed triple which I love. I've also got a DT250MX 1981. This is for sale on eBay as I've bought a 1996 Daytona 900. The 900 is for conversion to the crk cafe racer or roadster or what will actually happen a mixture of both.

I am wanting a project to do myself, actually more interested in the oily parts to be honest. My thread title is because I'm mixed up between the cafe racer (fad?) and more practical but not as cool looking roadster. The roadster would need cleaning up and obviously without clip ons but with a pillion provision. Do you think it's possible to mix n match a bit if the subframe is the same.?

Cool. Was wondering about that as my mate is a top notch welder. He might be able to help? I also want to learn to weld but would assume a proper load tested etc subframe would be beyond me?

I'm building one now and only cut the rear sub frame as far back as the seat lock no need for welding, check out '900 street fighter'

    Hi Clarkey,

2 of us on here (myself and Boothy) are in the process of building a cafe racer utilising the CRK kit and must say the kit is top notch but it all depends on what you are after.

Personally I am not sure if a roadster with clip ons or a cafe racer with bars would work but there is only one way to find out.

Good luck fella and keep us posted!

Well I'm thinking of the roadster seat, no side panels, and flat bars instead of clip ons? I'm waiting to find out if the subframe are the same for both which would then lead me to assume the roadster seat can be used?

I'm currently building a brat style T300 and had same dilemma.I had the seat unit built by Made in Metal in Staffordshire. They cut off all existing mounts and fabricated a bolt on seat unit for a small seat. This will be matched with straight bars. When completed it will go back to them to have a cafe seat unit made to bolt on in place of the small seat. What I aim to do is within a couple of hours convert from brat style to cafe with clip ons. Going to try to get spare electrics so just bolt on and plug in. Don't think this has been done before.

That's a good idea and one which has crossed my mind. To be honest though I think if I do it right it'll be fine for me as more sport/roaster!

Had a reply from CRK and the subframe is common to both styles.

Nice one, plenty of people to keep me straight! Has anyone gone for a painted subframe?
