Today first sun in weeks and +7 degrees outside!

So I finally took my new Bonnie for her inauguration trip into the German hillside; and gosh did we love it!
I really don't know what they did to it (all is standard) but I think it sounds much more blubbering bassy than the Thrux R.
Not that the R sounded bad. But this is such a nice deep hammering sound, especially when you putter through towns at 50 km/h.
Everyone on here was right about the mirrors. I just see my arms. They are a nice chrome job though and I'd hate to swap 'em AND pay more money... :(
Guess I stick with them for a while and look ahead...;)

The coming up week looks pretty promising weather-wise, so I hope to have some more fun...
    :)

Thanks! Have not inquired about them but thought, that might be a good option!

Well the temperature has climbed above 6c and the roads dried out nicely, so pulled out the T'Bird and went to Bill Smiths to book my Street Twin in for its 500 mile service. I can't believe that it has taken me so long to get to this first service milestone. Went onto Broxton for a Hereford burger and a cuppa..... Great to be out again in the sunshine and on the bike.

13th Feb. 2017............well, 13's unlucky for some.....but not for me today.......

    .....sun was shining.....
    .....wind blew the wet dry....
.....the temp was nigh on 10 C

.....the Thruxton 12 got the surplus WD40 wiped off and we headed off for the first ride of 2017.......(well, it was my second 'ride' of the day, being retired allows you to fit a lot more into the day!).......

......not far, 20 miles or so but it warmed the oil up, reminded the pistons which way they had to go, made me smile and still left time to give it a loving wipe over with an oily rag before putting it back under its duvet again....

I hope lots more of you enjoyed today as much as I did.....

    Cheers,

4 degrees "yippee" a fine day. Aberdeen to try-on some helmets, some are horrible, Ive got scrape marks on my temples, managed to try-on a few and Im thinking HJC or Shoei. Looked for a good tank pad only, no luck so eBay it is. Email from World of Triumph and my new mudgaurd is dispatched ( they said back order 4 weeks and that was 1 1/2 weeks ago so good job WoT) Then long way home, so about 130 miles, cold and stiff I am, bike washed and shined. Not back to work till Friday and nice day tomorrow it seems, 7 degrees "yippee"

I refer the honourable gentleman to a previous thread I started recently re the age of 'new' helmets. The Shoei that I originally bought - and subsequently returned - was nearly 9 years old with a manufacturing date of April 2008 (IIRC). Didn't fancy using a 14 year old helmet in 5 years time. The HJC RPHA-ST that I bought has a manufacturing date of sometime in 2015 (can't remember just when) which I can live with a bit more easily.
Just check the build date of the helmet (a sticker under the inner lining, somewhere on the polystyrene) to see if it is acceptable to you before you take it away.
    Just saying!
Got a bee in me bonnet about such things now!

Didnt get a ride out, started doing a few jobs: new number plate, resprayed the rack (started to wear, I think I might need to hand-paint with Smoothrite it to give it a thicker coat) and the fuel cap, chipped round the edge.
Set the Sag after resetting the suspension, I havnt had a chance to test it yet.

    And tomorrows WP_000720.jpg jobs arrived.

After yesterday's fiasco on the M62, 2hrs 15 mins to travel 20 miles, the bike was definitely going to be used today.
I hadnt used it for a week due to having a bad cold and the frosty mornings.
I constantly monitor BBC Weather News to determine yes or no to winter riding days.
Weather forecast for today okay, 1 hour of light rain forecast for 3pm, no problem or so I thought.
Ride to work was brilliant, big grin all the way there.
Came out of work at 5pm, chucking it down and did so all the way home. (Bonnie still had me grinnng though)
Fully geared up so I got home dry as snuff in 30 mins with a bit of filtering.
But aren't those weather forecasts shite!

Bang on, the forecast on the BBC seems to be guess then change it on the day too match the weather.

Hey ho! So I got my egg and bacon butty ( and a fine one they do there) I tried to kill as much time as possible hoping the rain would subside, but it didn't so I headed off. Not to be a wooss I stayed with the twisty whatever's and took an hour and a half to do my 50 mile journey, think of a 5 year old in wellies with loads of puddles, had a brilliant ride, wet, yes! Cold, yes! Happy? You bettya! Trouble is I had to arrive home... then I paid the price!
    IMG_2412.JPG
Got even colder and wetter over the next hour!!
