I think, given everything that's cropped up, it's a sign to just walk away and look for a more straight forward purchase....o_O

I know what your saying the head is telling me to think don't worry! But if everything checks out and it was only recently serviced by Triumph I will be getting a bargain with a lot of extras.

Could be worth the hassle and worse case scenario I've wasted a few hours drive. Paid deposit on cc so good old section 75 should cover me and from my understanding purchasing from a dealer they have responsibilities (as a business) as opposed to a private sale.

Cheers pal I'm not going barking mad then as the smell of it will certainly put a lot of people off. The dealer says it's tight financially from his point of view so I suppose he doesn't want to buy it and be unable to sell it now he has a buyer lined up.

Have you spent any money on this? If not a substantial sum and you're thinking of selling it on walk away there's others out there. If you think it's too good a bargain and your going to keep it, no finance pending, then buy it. Keep it simple(s)

Gazza, be aware that it's the frame number that links the bike to the reg doc.
In other words if you buy an engine you won't get a reg doc but buy a frame and you need a reg doc or you would need to apply to dvla for the reg number.
That's why when you get a bike MOT'd the tester will check or should check the frame number.
    Hope this makes sense.

I'm with half ton on this.
Personally I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole irrespective of how the dealer dresses it up. To many ifs and buts for my peace of mind.

There's plenty more bikes out there and there will be even more soon as the new reg is out in a few weeks.

if its a great deal saving loads and you can find out everything ie ALL information required, from official source and not from the guy who wants your money. And your happy then ok .

Honestly with a cool head (its not my deal) I would run and find another.

    Hello mate

There are plenty of decent bikes out there. Keep looking and you will find a good bargain, especially this time of the year. This bike from word go.....has been nothing but raised eyebrows and lots of uncertainty surrounding it. I would be very cautious with this deal. Few years down the line, if you decide to upgrade you might end up with issues trying to sell it on.

Be wise and decide what's really best for you.

    All the best buddy

    Hi guys,

Thought I'd post a late update.

Well traveled down to the dealer and did the deal having spoken in person to the insurer about the situation. No cat would be attached and marker would be amended. Dealer wasn't going to make a significant amount due to the insurance payment and at this point was prepared to strip the bike and return or do the deal with me.

When I got there he didn't want to offer warranty due to the above, at which point was ready to walk away. However agreed a 30 day warranty in writing and everyone was happy once all the paperwork and payments were completed.

Weather was horrendous Friday so made a short trip to a hotel and traveled the rest of it home yesterday. Wow does she go over the 150 mile. The motorways are a bit less monitored on the route so could be a little bit more liberal on the throttle! Plus still saved a good amount over delivery.

Saw Tyrone from Corrie at services outside Brum. Mrs who I was following in her car was more impressed!

    Wow what an amazing bike!

Thanks for all the replies and help above.

I thought that, legally, they had to give a 3 month warranty minimum these days ?

I think new law says he has to give a warranty regardless but at least it's in writing. Not sure on the 3 month time scale.

It's only £40 for a Triumph health check so may book that in soon. At least I've done nearly a couple hundred miles to test her so far.

Thanks pal. I asked the insurer and said no marker and would just show stolen recovered. Should be no Q plate.
