Was that 5 years ago or longer ? I've seen him about 6 times and every show apart from one has been fantastic. There was a time when he toured too soon after having a heart attack and his performances were dire (understandably). Not sure when that was though, probably more than five years ago.
I saw him maybe 20 years ago when we lived in Scotland and all I can say is that I now understand why he always has an attractive young woman singing alongside him - imo he couldn't sing for toffee.
i saw him at the ssec in Glasgow i don't think it was much more than 5 years ago Andy,The band and backing singers were good, i wasn't expecting him to sound like he did on the bat out of hell album as that was 40 years ago, but i was shocked at how bad he sounded,i've looked at some you tube clips of him performing in recent years and it is sad to see. it reminds me of the very last album Elvis did "elvis in concert" i'm a huge fan but i could only listen to that album the once as it was so bad
A few years back he was a mentor on think it was American Idol, X factor or something like that, he was totally shite then, he was supposed to be helping young new stars,it was just embarrassing.
"Moonage Daydream" (Ziggy is my favourite album) I love most of Bowie's stuff, but I bought this album soon after it was released and can still remember the impact it had on me, especially this track. Ronson's solo made the hairs on the back of my neck and arms stand up when I heard it.
i think he would have liked this version of the Andrews sisters "candy man" by Christine Aguilera (she plays the 3 sisters) although he would never admit he liked any modern music
Bit of a long shot, lol, but ya gotta follow it aint ya????? Happy days in the early skinhead discos as a young biker
After listning to Robert Mitchum on another thread, i stumbled across this of him singing a Dean Martin song,i always thought he looked kinda like him,not near as good as Deans version, but he makes a decent effort
I've not seen that clip before Dougie. Certainly sings confidently in his own style, and as you say a good effort. Did you notice the size of his knuckles, he was a professional boxer in his younger days. I thought his facial characteristics and style whilst singing were similar to Bobby Darin although Mitchum was heavier built.
