    Evening folks.

Picking up my 15 plate Street Triple R tomorrow...WOOHOO!!

However, as I live in a flat with no storage space I have a dilemma as to where to park the beast!

Should I park with cover, Abus chains, disc locks on the main road along side other cars?
    Or
Would I be allowed to chain it to the lamp post on the outside pavement(wide)?

I don't want to get a ticket off the council from parking on the pavement/attaching to lamp post but in terms of security it seems the more secure option.

My flat is on a busyish main road and other bikes are parked nearby without any noticeable security but like everyone Im apprehensive of it getting nicked.

Well I would go lamp post - just make sure you DON'T block the pavement.

    cheers thebiglad.

I think Im going to give it a bash tomorrow and see if I can get away with it.
Maybe leave a snickers on the cover to keep the buggers at bay! :)

Do you not have motorcycle parking near your flat? Quite a bit in Glasgow. I park mine the street with chain, cover, disc lock in a motorcycle parking bay that has a convenient cross bar/railing to lock to.

    Unfortunately not.
Live in the Southside and only lamp posts/park fencing around here, a tad frustrating!
Other bikes parked nearby either have no security or just cover/chain with no lock in to object.

Need to have a look around tomorrow for something to attach to.

Good idea DD, the only drawback being is that both bikes will not always be parked up at the same time and 'sods law' may strike.
Also not all riders are as careful with their bikes and I would be most pissed off if some twat marked my wheels or frame.
Go for the lamppost security, just watch out for dog piss. lol

You'll struggle to get anything useful out of Glasgow City Council, especially over the phone, but you could give it a go.

    Cheers for the suggestions lads!

I will give them a call and ask but as d-Basser says The council are as useful as a needle pricked condom!

Noticed a lamppost across the street that is close to the edge of pavement so thinking could park the bike on the road but chain it to the lamppost.

    Someone build me a shed!

I have heard, and I could be wrong, that if a bike is covered the parking #%^ can't tamper with it to see your plate! If you don't want to risk that Can you get a couple of chains so they reach the lamppost if parked on the road

Unless the chains go across the pavement and become an obstruction. Maybe better to try parking the other side of the post from the road, cover it and chain to the post, then wait for a warning in the letter box or sticker on the bike. If it's overnight which official is going to notice? Saturday daytime is probably the most likely time for a Warden to pounce, or a concerned citizen to report it.

I'm reliably informed that this is the best open-air deterrent to keep your Triumph from getting robbed.

    I have not!
Awesome suggestion...will contact the council tomorrow howeve from doing some research there are huge waiting lists.

Got a big ass Oxford chain attached to lamp post along with non flashy cover plus disk lock so hopefully that will do for now.

    Haha MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!

Third party fire and theft is roughly £700 for the year.

Hefty but worth it for the noise alone! Mwahaha

Clearly as you get closer to the furnace they charge you less in sympathy! ;)

Im guessing yours is probably close to the price of 2 pints and a packet of walkers? :)

Have you enquired about the insurance cost if a tracker is fitted? Some tracking systems are subscription around £80. per annum. Failing that - can you chain to a grid using a u lock? All the best mate

Personally I would put the bike in your flat and chain yourself to the lamp post. I bet it would be cheaper. Lol

I live in a flat in Birmingham , I have a garage too which I pay a load for. There is NO way i would leave even my old 95 Sprint outside locked to a post. The thievin bastards can just keep coming back till they get it, I would never sleep at night

Yeah I'm looking into the Datatool tracker but need to find someone to fit it.
Chained to lamppost between cars with disc lock and cover for now. Might get another longer thick lock for frame to lamp post...2 chains should deter some hopefully. :)
