There seems to be a good chance we may be moving to Ardrossan in the New Year, looks like some good biking roads, only about 25-30miles from Glasgow etc, any one know much about the biking scene?
Looks like some good fishing from the coast line too, plenty for me to do, cant wait to get out of the 'Basildon of Scotland!'

Not a town or area I know much about but you're not far away from the Gourock - Dunoon ferry and that opens up a whole new world of biking for you.
Love that quick crossing as you're up the West coast on the best roads in no time at all. Lucky guy :)

Not much around Ardrossan, just usually pass through that area.

Head south into Dumfries and Galloway or as mentioned above go on the ferry over to Argyll. Both are excellent areas for biking.

Once your over, give us a shout, happily show you the delights of D&G.

You could get the ferry over to Arran from Adrossan,i did that several years ago, it's a nice ride around the island , Also you wouldn't be far from Loch Lomond so it would be worth going north that way (as long as you did it midweek) as the traffic can get busy at the weekends, they have widened the road where it used to be really narrow, so it really is a cracking road when it's quiet, and from the top of Loch Lomond you are less than 10 miles to Crianlarich..gateway to Biking nirvana:):):)

Looking good for the bike then, already got the route to Tyndrum (Green Welly) and that looks better than going from here, right through the Trossocks!
We will see how it pans out, very stressful, moving!

With the Peter Sutcliffe beard, and a penchant for dismemberring hookers, I understand the possible link, but
    no, I don't. :D:D:D

My parents live in Dunoon, so do the road often. :)

Every thing is go for Ardrossan, next Sat 21, busy boxing everything up, bike is going in the lorry too so no need to tax it.
Cant wait to get out of Livingston, we have a football field right opposite us and cant go out of a week-end in the car in the summer as we cant get back in for all the football parking!
Also there is a sports centre a couple of 100 yds up the road, you would not believe how much traffic it generates in whats supposed to be a residential side road.
I'm a keen sea fisherman too, its a bloody long cast to the sea from here as well!
Freezer needs some dogfish, cod, haddock etc, all catch able from Ardrossan, plus there are some lovely beach's to walk the dogs.3 out of the 4 have sea the sea & beach at Weston Supermare area, but it will be a new experience for Incpot!
    Roll on the 21st!:):):)

I assume the purpose of moving is to get a house with a garage!!

The purpose of moving is:1, to get out of Livi, 2, to get back to a coastal area, fishing cold turkey!
3 Bigger garden for the dogs.
    'Ardy' ticks all those box's.
There is a hard standing I can put the bike canopy on, had very little condensation in it this year since I've opened both top vents and no rain has got in.
I'm sure I will use the bike a lot more now I'm a lot better and more places to go, better ride up to the Green Welly too, no forgetting the Girvan 'Sausage' treat to look forward to!:):rolleyes:

If you can actually get your minds up out of the gutter and onto the kerb, there is an absolute belter of a chippie near the front in Girvan, called Graziano's, same as Mr Rossi Snr !;)

The sausage suppers are huge (2 sausage) and bloody lovely. One of the best chippies in Scotland (IMHO).:D

Maybe in hindsight I should have said Fish Supper as opposed to "sausage", and am currently kicking myself at this school boy error of judgement. Do'h. And in no way was I inviting H.O. down for some kind of homosexual liaison - a la "George Michael"

I am making this clear, before H.O. turns up in black leather, chains and looking like one of the village people

    Phew!!!!!!!!!!!!
That saves a lot of embarrassment, as a violent refusal often offends!:)
Looking forward to the fish supper, there was 2 other chippies I'd recommend, 1st was one in Scalloway, Shetland, and second one at the dog track at Mildenhall, Suffolk, beautiful supper out of a small take-away at the side of the rack, if you got bored watching the dogs you could watch the USAF taking off about 100' above!
Like everything else in Livi, the outlets here are sh*t and over priced!!
