    Hi can anyone help.

I have recently stripped re-built engine on my 900 triple for CRK Cafe Racer Kit.

Before starting up would like to fit an oil pressure gauge to turnover with plugs outand check all ok prior to firing up.

Can anyone advise where i can get suitable fittings and where to plumb it in this will be temporary for inital start up only

    Thanks

Had a quick look at the Haynes manual which suggests that oil pressure checks need a special adapter and should be carried out with a warmed up engine - assuming I read it correctly! So that is not really much help.:(
I would think that spinning the engine over with the oil pressure warning light connected properly would tell you if oil pressure is sufficient. I do understand why you would like to have an actual pressure reading though after a strip down and rebuild. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing!:)

    Hi Boothy,
Most of the initial wear occurs in the engine parts furtherest from the oil pump, this would be the valve's in the cylinder head ! So turn the motor over without the cam cover on, after lubricating the cams and buckets etc by hand, if oil takes more than 3 or so seconds to flow to the top stop cranking.

When we rebuilt our race motors we always primed the oil pump before the bike was started making sure minimum time for full oil circulation. Clive Wood can tell you more how he did this

Did you plenty of oil on the cams etc. as well?
