looks like I will be putting a new set of boots on before too long.

Anyone tried any different tyres to the standard ones ?

Hi John, not in your position on tyres yet but would be interested to know how many miles you have got from the original tyres.

Avon Roadrunners AM26 back and front. I went through 2 sets on my T100 and they never missed a beat.

    Hi Dave

    Were those Avons tubeless ?

Another few months since I posted this has anyone else changed tyres ?

Dealer confirmed as I suspected that I need new boots when they were doing the 'health check' during the recall job mentioned elsewhere

Hi John, the Avons were used on my wire wheel 2010 T100 with tubes, but in the back of my mind I seem to recall that they were classed as tubeless.

Still Looking for tyres and found the AM 26 tyres on several sites for just over £150

Contacted one supplier who said that the only Avons suitable and designed with The T 120 in mind are the Avon 3DXM types

Slightly dearer but seems to have good reviews

    Anyone tried these ?

I'm going to try the Avon Storm 3D X-M tyres. The 100/90 -18 size has been introduced to the range last summer, apparently in conjunction with Triumph. They are radials as opposed to crossply which I am led to believe is the case with the Bonneville sizes in other tyre makes. Supposed to last a bit longer too.
I'll let you know what they feel like but it's gonna be a week or two before they're used in anger

First ride on the new Avons yesterday mixture of dry and damp surfaces in post winter condition and I was very impressed.wasnt pushing too hard but felt very secure and no twitches over joins and lines as I sometimes got with original tyres
    Highly recommended so far

My original tyres are due for replacement. Have not been particularly impressed with the Pirellis either, seemed ok at first but know what you mean about uneven surfaces and white lines. Was out today on them and they didn't really inspire much confidence on damp surfaces, had the back end stepping out a few times while taking it reasonably easy. Maybe try the Avons.

These are the ones I'm changing to when the originals wear out.
I do not find the originals too bad, but as they were designed back in the 80s to perform on bad handling bikes, they were a revolation. Sadly not much use on modern bikes.

I've got Avon Storm 3D X-M. Really good grip much better than the crappy OEM fitments. Good in rain too.
