How glad I am that we live close to a nice little hill.
Stood for one night only under a fitted bike cover 'Click' ='No start'
Yes, frost overnight but I had done 40 miles Yesterday so neglected using the Optimate
thinking she would start okay in the morning
Started immediately on bump start, then started tonight okay as normal.
It's on a knife edge and I don't like it, knowing one day soon Im gonna get stranded.
Anyway great ride to work apart from the horrendously low sun blinding me for the best part of 20 miles.

Seriously has anyone looked into fitting a kickstart to the new Bonneville ?

In addition to picking up the top fairing (which I'll install on Sunday) I also washed the Daytona, and then spent some time cleaning the Guzzi brakes.

Its been sitting 2 1/2 months since I took it out on Cadwell Park circuit, and the brakes were gummed to all hell. Should never have passed MOT like that, really.

 

Had to go to a breakers yard down near Crawley yesterday and thought I'd drop into my local branch of getgeared on the way. Glad I did! They had a pair of rev it waterproof Kevlar jeans on sale £99 reduced by £100. Really comfy and warm. Had a great ride back through the twisties too!

 

Went over to Flitwick Motorcycles, Yamaha, and Woburn Pure Triumph today where my big-feller mate was trying out bikes using his 1050 Sprint as a trade in. He liked the 800 XCx for size and ride-ability, and liked the price on a 2015 low-mileage pre-owned one. He also liked the ride-ability of a Yammy MT-09 Tracer, and even more liked the price on a brand new one - pretty much the same spec as the Tiger except for no cruise control. So he bought the Tracer, fairnuff.

I splashed out on a new pair of Weis gloves and got the bike mucky in the drizzle. Nice ride out though.

today i fitted this http://chipguard.co.uk/motorcycle-protection.html to the tiger fitted the full kit its a bit fiddly and £100 sounds a lot but cheaper than a respray ,the bike is my daily ride so used in all weathers

 

Crispey has directed me to the Triumph Rat forum expert Forchetto who bypasses the ECU with a 10p piece of plastic strategically positioned within the starter relay to actuate the armature.
This is a seriously good solution.
Come on now lads, let's reply with a kick start solution from our own forum.

 

Well loads of rain to wash away the salt and winds to dry the roads, best christmas present; meant I could pull out the Thunderbird for a run this morning. I've not been out on her for about nine weeks, brilliant.

Not mine but I helped a fellow 'senior' get his ancient 3TA going.
Me and 'her' were out with our mutt when we came across the poor chap on the main road kicking the crepe suzetes' out of it.
As it was just a tad inclement, (blowing a gale and horizontal wet stuff) and only 250 yards from home I took pity on him, helped push it to our spot.
While 'her' was making a brew and getting a couple mince pies out, we got it in the garage, tool kit out and started to check all the usual suspects.
First stop fuel, tank about 1/2 full but nowt commin' out.
Siphon kit out and drain it. Pet cock out, muck cleaned off the filter gauze. Put the pet cock back in and about 1/2 gal of Esso's finest, two or three kicks and brunin' and turnin' as sweet as a nut. Put the rest of his fuel back in and off he with a big smiles. Good deed done for Christmas and thought nothing more of it.
A bit later a knock on the door, the wife answered it and there's this bloke with a bottle of vin rouge to say Ta for bailing him out.
When he got home (about 15 miles from us) put the old girl in garage and got changed. Then he jumped in the car called Tesco's (other supermarkets are available) and drove the 15 miles back to ours.
Not sure if it's Christmas Spirit or not but it is nice to know that there are still some folks out there who really appreciate it when you help them.

 

And it is even nicer to know there are folks like you ( and this forum) who bother to help others.

Managed a Boxing Day run out today.

 

Had a spin out on my BonnieSE with my mate Paul over to my daughters where we put the hose over the bikes to wash a bit of pre-Xmas muck off them, then back on the twisty Kimbolton Road. Lovely day, but that low sun is a bugger.

 

That Kimbolton road is an absolute corker !!!

 

Fitted the new cockpit (LOL what happened to Upper Fairing?) to the D955i. I get the new screen on Wednesday.

Took the Guzzi out for its first proper blast since the dynotuning. All I can say is... faaaack me. Its pretty quick now!

Just been out for an hour on the Scrambler over in West Norfolk and it's damn cold but good to get out on the dry roads. Just got to be super alert to the car drivers because they just don't expect to see bikes in the winter. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

 

Abcght, I agree! Same here in the German hills; met 3 other bikers but they all looked rather surprised
I have to take a bow to the scooterizers though: out of 10 engined-twowheelers, there are 8 scooters: tough bunch!
