And they weren't the most expensive either!! just as well I have had some overtime recently at w**k My gal does have a full fairing ..... apart from the grips which are exposed to all elements!! Looking forward to seeing the pics of ya muff..... Damn that sounds so wrong hahaha

Hi Fellas, first real post, excluding the newbie thread. Got my '97 Trident in bits for the winter fettle. Got a set of NOS forks to go in, as current ones got pitted stanchions, leaking seals, paint bubbling off the lowers. Was going to refurb the rear shock, but, when I got it apart, it was apparent the internals weren't made to be rebuildable without specialized tools. New YSS item on way. New rear pads, also, as I hadn't realised how worn they were. A clean and re-grease of the swingarm and all suspension bushes should then be about it. Then I can start on my Sprint RS.....

Well not on my triumph as she is all bedded down for winter but stripped the clutch on my wife's Yamaha 125 as it was a bit sticky and dragged a little. Never done it before but was fine, all seemed as should be so hoping fresh oil will sort it. Gone from no bikes for 12 years to three in the garage, also bought an absolute mint 23 year old Yamaha XJ Diversion with 9k on the clock for winter riding, it's a big floaty duvet of a bike. Just right for the wet slippery stuff, already missing the rawness of the Bonnie though!
Helicopter tape? What is that? On second thoughts I don't want to know. I may end up having to fly in one and I don't want to know that it is held together with tape!
Well it's looking like I've opened a real can of worms , putting a new lithium battery in has shown up a few weak spots in the wiring, now getting a new starter solenoid, as it maybe getting too long in the tooth, fixed wires and joints and still getting the dreaded ECU low voltage no start cutting out ! Bridge solenoid across the heavy current connection and started fine every time!!! Cheers for now hopefully no more on this... Mick

Lol at you guys. In a previous life I worked in a helicopter repair yard and littleade is right, it is used on the leading edge of the rotor blades, it helps with protecting the blade from pitting. It is a poly vinyl material and it sticks like shiit to a blanket. So funny reading this thread.
I took off the K and Q seat today and decided to put the original back on for a change, SWMBO won`t go on the back in the "cold",plus she doesn`t like the original seat either. I have to say I had forgotten how neat the bike looks with the original seat in place. Other than a look over and keeping the optimate4 firmly on, not a lot else.
All I can tell you jtd is that when the rotors were removed they were taken to the dope shop, which is another name for paint prep and spray, not my skill I hasten to add. I do remember that they used to warm/heat the rotor blades not sure to what temperature and then the glue softens and makes the removal easier. Probably not helpful but that`s all I know about the process.
I am talking about 25 years ago so things may have moved on since then, just a thought perhaps having a chat with your local car damage repair specialist may be able to give you some more up to date info?
