I was sat in the pub with friends last night after a bonfire do and we were talking, as you do, and this idea drifted in to my head and won't go away.

I'm not sure if I need encouragement or talking out of it so here goes.

I've just bought a T100 and love it.

I also love the cafe racer look.

The unlimited funds solution would be buy Thruxton as well and tweak it a bit.

However, back in the real world a second bike isn't really on, at the moment. Never say never. :)

Then there's the beer fueled idea that started to form last night. Two bikes in one.

Buy some drop bars and a cafe racer seat for the T100 and possibly some rear sets, and swap them about as the mood takes me, one week standard T100 then a bit of spannering and I'm riding something different for a while until I put it back to original.

    Are there any major flaws?

Do I need talking out of it or do I start looking for parts?

Whilst at a triumph club open day tecbikeparts where there with goods on display and had a complete cafe racer conversion kit, can't see it on their website but could be worth contacting. There was a lot to it though, springs, shocks, exhausts etc

Laverda Jota fully adjustable bars could be a good place to start.

    There is absolutely nothing wrong!
In fact you are one of the few who wants your bike to be your own so go for it.
Don't worry about which parts to use now.
Use the best of what's available now and if you find better parts later fit them then.
    Don't wait.
The bike will come to life and will evolve.
    Proper job.
(Don't expect everyone to like it but it's a custom bike so guess what it's not for them)

Modding to your liking is the best part other than riding. There is a huge range of parts available from all sorts of companies, do your research check out as many other Bikes as you can, going online makes this really eas find stuff that you like the look of and fill your boots

I put some drop bars on my GS850 back in the 70,s. Took her up to 120 and got the biggest tank slapped ever. So much so you could see indentations on both sides of the tank from my thumbs. I don't know how I stayed on. As soon as I got home I put the standard bars back on.

I guess what I'm saying is take care that you don't alter the riding characteristics by moving the weight forward.
