I love this type of racing and watch it on the tele whenever I can. As I have got older some of my mates have either give up or can't be bothered with such sports and so often I find myself a bit of a loner and so tend to watch it all on TV or some sort of catch-up, rather than get off my arse and get my camping gear out.

How many of us here are in a similar situation and so take the easy option and watch it all on TV or do you actually go for it.

This would be my favourite type of "meet" , how about you ?

I'm with you mate i love it! I'm subscribed to Eurosport just for the superbike racing £3.99 a month i think. i have BT internet so i get to watch moto gp for nothing. i try to make Knockhill every year for BSB and go to at least 1 moto gp every year with a few mates who are also into the racing. This year for the first time i did a bike trip to Germany to coincide with a GP, i met my mates at the hotel where we were staying for the racing as they didn't want to take their bikes !. i think that's what I'll be doing in future, 2 birds with one stone..

With a hotel ...(rather than camping) + (secure parking) ... sounds perfect but I am not adverse to camping :D

we've camped once at Aragon but i didn't have the bike we flew over on the thursday and back on the monday, but any other time it's always been Hotels, when i took the bike i stayed in a B&B in the Harz Mountains for 4 days they called themselves a Hotel so they could serve drink! i then met up with the rest at another Hotel and my bike was parked in their car park just outside the main door so it was pretty safe, but if i was going again i would make sure i had secure parking.and it would be a hotel for me nowadays, especially if i had the bike..it would be good if their were a few other like minded folk on here, next year i am thinking about squeezing in 2 GPS back to back maybe Brno and Austria but i haven't worked out how many days away I'd need and the cost yet,it might not be feasible

Was looking to get to Knockhill this year for the BSB but missed it, used to go to Brands in the 70's, Mick Grant, Sheene Parrish, etc and later Donnington, about 10yrs ago, so you can see I'm pretty regular!
Got off to a bad start with the hospital stay at the very end of last year so lucky to have got on the bike to go any-where this year, did get to the Green Welly though, hoping for better next year, with the Mrs as well.
Will frequent the Bikers Cove and the Leadburn next year, that will hopefully lead to more track visits too.

Do you need to subscribe to BT/Sky to subscribe to Eurosport as a stand alone?
We don't bother with any, get all the TV we need through the Sky box, I think its basically Freeview.

I subscribe to bt sports and sky includes Eurosport obviously so I have the ability to watch all the major bike events.

With living only 3 miles from Oulton Park, I've never lived more than 5 miles from the circuit, and being retired I frequently pop over for an hour or 2 during the week to watch bike track days.

Watched my first road race event back in 1964, the August bank holiday International meeting at Oulton Park which was on the 3rd August, the day before my 14th birthday
I've still got the race program.

Visited most major UK and a few European circuits and quite a few club circuits over the years. I enjoy watching club races as much as major bike events.

I enjoy classic racing especially on road circuits more these days followed by MotoGP.

I've been to the IOM 3 times a year for the last few years to flag marshal at the Southern 100 Pre TT Classic races and the Southern 100 International also to spectate at the Classic TT/Manx GP.
Roll on 2017, ferries and accommodation already booked :)

To say road racing at all levels has given me much enjoyment would be an understatement

    Dave.

No problem,it's a Samsung smart TV i have, but apparently it is not as smart as i had hoped, you have to download Microsoft "Silverlight" before you are able to watch Eurosport,i have it downloaded on my lap top but my Samsung TV is not able to download it.i don't think there is a problem with other makes of TV though

I try to catch MotoGP coverage on BT sport. I'm lucky that my wife and adult son are into bike racing (son raced MX and we both did enduro for a number of years). Have been at the Circuit de Catalunya for MotoGP for last 3 years and hoping to go again next year - it ties in with our trip to Spain on the bike. I catch the BSB highlights on telly and if I'm not busy playing on my bike will take a run down to Knockhill for BSB. I used to attend a lot of club meetings at Scottish circuits but any spare time I get these days prefer to ride my bike.

If you are thinking about getting Eurosport just for the racing, i would wait until march next year, as the last wsb race is next week, although there are lots of other sports if you are interested, and they do have videos of sports inc bike racing you can watch whenever. i tried to subscribe on a monthly basis but it has to be a years subscription
