I'm thinking of upgrading the standard springs on my T120 for a set of TEC's, has anyone had any experience of these please?

Are you talking about front springs or all round. I had TEC progressive gas shocks on my T100 and they were a significant improvement over OE springs.

Fitted a set on my T100 while also lowering the bike as well (easy job)
I like the improved handling but also a local mechanic who track days bikes, said it was the best handling (Hinckley) Triumph he'd ridden...

Fitted them about a month ago on my 2011 T100. What a difference they made!

Ordered them and will be fitting next week. ;-)

Their rear shocks look interesting - and much more affordable than the usual brands. Hmmm...

I have progressive front springs & rear progressive shocks on my T100, tons better than standard, also good two up.
Covered about 8000 mile and no problems to date.

Just looking at these for the street twin, looks like a decent package, might have to get fronts and rears. I just wonder how lower the bike will be if i fit the lowering rears

Funnily enough, I wrote to George at TEC asking the question regarding the choice of rears as I'm unsure of the standard shock length and how that compares to his two choices. I got an auto-reply saying he's on holiday until the 8th, but he gave me a number and a name to call in the interim which I'll do tomorrow and I'll then update this thread.

Having done a longer run recently I can give the TEC progressive fork springs a big thumbs up for comfort. Most noticeable was going over cattle grids which feel like smooth Tarmac now. One of the best modifications for the money you will ever encounter methinks

Looking at the TEC online shop it says £99.99 for the rear shocks, now is that for two or £99.99 per side?

Per pair - they also have fully adjustable gas ones for £129.95 per pair. If you going down the TEC route talk to George about your likely usage of the bike - mainly rider only (?? kgs); rider and pillion; rider, pillion and luggage - so he can supply the most appropriate springs.

Yes you absolutely can. However there is, in addition to std. spec, the option to tailor-make them.

    Update.

Spoke to George today and he recommended the standard length set for me (5' 7" and 12 stone). They will actually allow a drop in height of 5mm anyway but he said they'd be fine and that was before I told him about using the bike 2-up, which obviously makes them the better choice.

For the T120 there is no adjustable gas option, but as he said most riders who do buy adjustable ones invariably just set them and don't change afterwards at all.

Back to TEC website and duly ordered: £99.99 and £9.99 shipping: a bargain IMO!

    PS.

Forgot to mention that I'd already ordered the front springs and fitted them yesterday, but didn't get chance to try them out. However, I'm going to wait now until the rear set arrives and then see how the bike feels with the all-new setup.

As an aside, when I fitted them I discovered that only one fork (the offside) has a gas damper built into it, the nearside being damped by oil only. Thought this a bit odd, but George confirmed that this was the Triumph standard for the T120's.

    You cheapskate Triumph!

I also spoke to George today, and pretty much came to the same conclusion as you, the lowering springs are for the shorter people amongst us for ease of riding and reach to the floor and thats about it! so the standard length springs are for me. so I will be putting a order in shortly for the full set front and rears, let me know how you get on Ralphy I'm interested to hear your opinion. i wonder if the street twin has the same damping layout as the T120? ill find out shortly i guess!
