I am on the verge of ordering a black R with twin seat, rear pegs and an alarm. I am getting the required finance through an independent company so will in effect be paying cash for the bike. I live equidistance between two dealers and was thinking that I should see if either of them would do any deals/offers to get my business. This got me thinking as I don't normally buy new vehicles or bikes so I don't know what to expect. I know that the R is new and there are waiting lists but £12,000 is still a lot of money for a bike so they should be keen enough for the business.

Any ideas on what I may be able to get by way of an offer or am I pissing in the wind?

I believe that with a waiting list as long as your arm the dealers are in a strong position. You might get a few little extras but not a lot else

It depends on how well the sales guys are doing towards their targets. You could be the one order that get them onto a higher bonus or a kick back from triumph. In which place you could do well. On the other hand it's August and everyone want a new reg for September 1st. You might do better in September or October.

That said just keep asking for more off until they say no. I would try dealers further afield as well and then play them off against your local dealers.

However ... it will be worth every penny when you do get it!

Hi LL, the only thing to do is ask both dealers what deal they can offer. Sounds like you're not going to get a lot of money off, so make sure you get all the extras you're going to want included in the deal.

I couldn't find one locally in June so ended up ringing round, Most dealers wouldn't budge on price and wanted to charge me full price on the accessories, plus fitting charges and then they wanted to charge me £200:00 delivery. I don't think you'll get anything off the bike, and quite right to IMO but push for throwing in some parts, fitted free. I ended up with nearly £1000 of stuff included in the price with no fitting charge.

End of the month is always a good time if you can find one in stock that is. Last time I was in Laguna Maidstone they had a few on the shop floor.

I bought a BMW R9T couple of years ago, same situation, couldn't get hold of them, waiting list, no discount etc etc. Now they can't shift the things and second hand prices are terrible. I wonder where we'll be with the Thruxton in a couple of years !!

It's the best bike I've ever owned btw, worth every penny......

None available near us. Been waiting 3 months almost for mine to be built. Spent another grand on extras but got free fitting.

Well I asked a few dealers near to me and basically got laughed at, in a kind way. I ordered it from the dealer that I wanted to use and didn't even ask for a deal. I am awaiting confirmation of the deal by email.

The good news is that Triumph had one in stock so I should get it in a few weeks, well by the end of September at the latest. That really surprised me. Very excited, like really excited, not far from wetting myself excited, don't worry though as I am a man and will hold it together. I had several Fireblades and an R1 when I was a kid and have spent the last 10 years on a Vespa, I jus can't wait to get on a proper bike again.

Well done on the order, colour bits etc??? Please fill us in :) You may notice a bit more power than the Vespa...
Modelconfusion, mine has been in the garage for 10 days and I am taking Thursday off to enjoy her... not far from you. Heading up through the peaks and into Yorkshire... I really can't wait ... how sad!

I ride for a job so I am taking a day off to ride... and not be paid for it... Sad may indeed be the word ... but hey it still makes me lust after it. I have called her Kylie, given she has a cute little bottom, goes like hell and needs to be ridden hard.. and the first bit of the reg is KY so it will "slide in real easy"... :D
    Soz for the hijack.

Simple order, black, alarm, double seat & extra foot pegs.

I am going to get one of the LED fender eliminators from America once my funds have recovered.

It looks like a damn cool bike as standard and I like that.

In time I may be tempted for a straight through exhaust and retune but that may take a while.

Actually I just want to ride the thing. In my twenty's I had the DR750, GXSR1100, FZR1000, CBR900 x2, R1 and Cagiva Raptor whilst never really riding a lot because I either had nowhere to go or was too hung over. Now that I am old and/or a teacher I kind of hope that the hangover issue has gone so all I need to do is surf the net and look for good riding opportunities. Whilst the commute to work will ensure I ride it more than the old bikes I really hope I make some good use out of it.

Actually that sounds sad. I did two trips to the South of France which were fantastic, I did a Le Mans trip which was cool and I went to Nuremberg which was f***ing cool (getting flashed at 160MPH on an autobahn is something else). The issue was that outside of cool trips the bikes sat in the garage and I don't want to repeat that if I can avoid it.

By the way, I tell anybody who is interested that they should do Nuremberg in a car or a bike before the authorities realise how insane it is. If you haven't done it please try to, it is a bucket list job.

I rang 6 different dealers and no one would budge on price,I eventually got offered pretty much same for most dealers..free fitting on any extras you buy a free mug and two free t shirts..it's a bike in big demand if you don't buy it from them someone else will it's that simple at the mo

I did get free fitting of the alarm which is ok. I am happy knowing that I tried for a deal even though I didn't get one, I would hated to have discovered that people were getting something that I just didn't ask for. I don't blame them for holding out for top whack at the moment. I didn't get offered a mug or a t-shirt though, emailing the dealer next,.....

Was at team Roberts yesterday. They have sold their demo bike and have no stock and are awaiting 5 bikes. Their customers are being told next March now for new bikes apparently. Mine should be ready in 2or 3 weeks yay!

Oh and apparently someone sold on their new bike order immediately at a grand premium over list!
