I'm thinking of getting a camera to fix to my bike just for a bit of fun so I don't want to spend much. Does anyone have any experience of cameras good or bad. On eBay they range from £10 upto £hundreds. I'm looking cheap but watchable. What do I avoid, what do others use?

I would recommend the Drift Stealth 2
About £100 on Amazon and proper HD quality
Waterproof and many fixing options for on your bike to your helmet or on a skateboard!
Removable MicroSD card so you can plug it into your computer for fast data transfer
The fully charged battery can last 3+ hours depending on your recording settings.
Also has WiFi so you can watch footage on your smart phone

Can take HD photos or time laps or quick succession

SO I would recommend the Drift Stealth 2

Watching some of the various videos on YouTube of crashes and near misses it had occurred to me that it would be a advantage to have one. Mr GoPro seems to have the biggest part of the market but all at a cost so I would be interested to hear what others have and their experiences with them

It is also a visual thing.
The GoPro just is not streamline, it sticks out inches from the surface and and is a box
The Drift camera range sits almost flush to the surface and is streamlined
With the Drift camera rotating lense you can mount it on a 45degree angled surface and still have a perfectly straight picture.

I know I am coming accross as a Drift Camera sales man, but I have two (front and read on my helmet) and they have captured all sorts of shinanigans on the road. The picture is always spot on and they are very easy to use, they are robust and do what they should do
You can use them in the rain without buying an expensive case

All my youtue videos are done using Drift cameras

Yep, you can get different packages or buy different mounts seperatly, one for cycle helmets, one for motorbike helmets 'curved surface' and flat surface. It will say on the product description.
I have two helmets and purchased spare helmet mounts off ebay, I got four for under a tenner
The fixing point is universal so they can even be used on a tripod
You can choose to display date/time
The recording can be in 'Car DV' - 'manual' mode which loops and records over the oldest footage.
(If it is 'Auto' it will record only when a power source is connected like you would do from a car power source)
Depending on the camers (Stealth/Ghost)25FPS to 60FPS and at different resolutions or camera view angle - so the widest is a bit fish eye lens, to a more narrow field

I use a SVC-200. can be got from the Far East for less than 30 notes and is excellent despite the price. A review can be found here.

That's the seller I got mine from, took about 3 weeks but really pleased. Camera comes with the waterproof case, charging cable and instructions. I bought a few different types of mounts to experiment with but the camera is compatible with go-pro mounts so cheap copies of them are available.

    Hi all,

Considering getting one of these, seeing as nearly every trip out results in a near miss.

Does it take a while to set up the camera on the helmet side to get the right picture???

    Obviously I'm not very "techy"

If your referring to the one I posted Bob it is easy to setup the camera. Regarding been used as a helmet cam I can't comment as I use mine fixed on the bike.

Referring to any really shamus, just trying to get my head round fitment and getting the right picture. You never know when you will need it eh?

Helmet fitment or bike (as long as it's not permanent on the bike) I'm not bothered which, as long as it records the right thing.

I bought this kit to go with it. I deliberately placed the camera as pictured so it gets a good view facing forward but also that the brake reservoir blocks the view of the speedo;)
