Waxed the chain. Recharged the battery. Went to start it, it went 'click', so bump started it and went for a mini taz around the lanes to see if that cured it. It cured it, and made me grin. Good day.

Just back from trip to France. T'bird cleaned and polished now looking clean shiny again. Had a week of wall to wall sunshine with only a short rain storm on the way back to Cheshire from Folkestone.

Changed gear lever and push rods, as worked slack with use, advisory on MOT. last week then off for a round trip of 70 miles, stopped in on a used dealer, and just for giggles, asked him how much he would part ex for. Was told he did not want it and what the book said... its only %£$k&*g less than I spent, so about what I expected.
Little scuffs on mirror and exhaust end can do I replace or not be so fussy?

Ok so last night I dropped by baby off to a non dealer mechanic to have the 12k well, more like 13k) service done. I went to a non dealer as the bike is 10 years old and was told that the service would cost £450 compared to the dealers cost of £600. Also the non dealer location was more convenient to get to. Being a single parent and being a bit strapped for cash I opted for the non dealer.

So at 12.15 pm today I get a phone call from the girl at the garage..... "I've been told by our mechanics that I have under quoted your service cost. We are going to need another 4 hours labour charge"

So asking what state my bike is to find out it's in bits! B'stards... so clearly I have kicked off a bit! Just waiting to hear back from them now.

To say I'm not happy is a frigging understatement

Hi DreadySteve, as far as I can see this is not your problem. You were quoted a price for a specific piece of work, you accepted that price so a contract was made between you and the garage. If they under-quoted by 4 working hours (a situation that beggars belief as that would make it much more expensive the the dealer price!!!) that is their incompetence not yours.

Tell them to get the job completed to your entire satisfaction or you will sue them for malpractice.

    Thanks for the reply biglad.

Unfortunately I only had a verbal quote over the phone and without any written proof it would be difficult to win a case like this and could end costing me a lot more.

I've since had a call and now they can do u it for £487 but does not include shim adjustment just checking! They will phone me later with an update..... doesn't look like I will have my bike back until Monday morning now either. They have given me a courtesy bike though to use in the meantime.

Edit.... wish I had of gone to the dealership now!

Tried doing my chain and sprockets today!

Prepped up, bought a new breaker bar for the front sprocket nut (every bike I've done the front on has been a b*tch) and got the missus ready!

Got the socket on the bar, placed socket and bar on the nut and braced myself for a big pull................ ended up on me backside as it wasn't very tight!!

Rear sprocket was a non event really, just went on fine.

Now to the chain!!! I ordered a 530 pitch 108 link chain and it arrived and said so on the box............ But it's too thin to go over me bleeding sprockets!!! So just had to order another one and pray this one fits!!

Oh my day just gets better!!!! Regulator looks like it is overheating (causing damage to surrounding rubber) and may need replacing and the air filter is not good blocked :( they reckon a week to get a new fliter! Another good reason to stick with a dealer I guess.... at least they have the parts in stock..

At least these are 2 jobs I can do myself.

tt100s tried on the kettle, they were too high profile, they actually altered the acceleration and made my speedo read differently, went back to roadrunners.

this is an old post of mine in review section. just to show, I know how you feel.

Put bike into bike shop to have immobilizer removed asked them to bleed brakes to see if they could get them any crisper. went to collect and we chatted about what he had done told me he checked the pistons seals and pushed in pistons as part of his process's (mate was there also) this was next day.
So decided to check over torque on caliper nuts , as I had planned a holiday at end of week, 3 days touring.
Three bolts over tight one spinning in hole -this is after I drove it home - pulled it out and not only is thread kapput a heli-coil has appeared from nowhere. later find reservoir retaining bolt needed re threaded also , even the bleed nipples were way to tight
Called and he denied everything but for the sake of his "reputation" he said it would take him an hour to fix take it up I refused and he offered the money equivalent (think he wanted to rethread caliper-then what? drill the fork) .
